Hey Everyone! I just got back from the doctor and he completely agrees with my thought that I have attention deficit disorder. I had done my research and everything so I could try to be well informed but I didn't even need all that research... he spent like 5 minutes with men and agreed and said I'd probably had a problem with it all my life and it sounded like I should have had treatment years ago... so that was a big relief:D ....

anyway- He put me on Straterra which I know absolutely nothing about:confused: . Everyone I know who has ADD is on adderall or rittalin.

So my question is How does Straterra compare to Adderall? Which has worse side effects which tends to work better for focussing and what not....

He said that if I did not like Straterra in a month then I can try out different meds... he prefers Straterra because it's less work on him and me because he can give refills. Oh and the cool thing is my doctor is ADHD. So he completely understands my problem.

Strattera works well for some people. The trouble is that it causes intolerably bad side effects in a lot of people... particularly males.
If it works for you good. If not, well there are other meds to try.

A lot of doctors will try the non-stimulant medications first. If those don't work, then they try the stimulants.

In persons suspected of possibly havnig bipolar disorder, the stimulants are often avoided as too risky of triggering a manic episode.
