Adderall obviously makes me more precise and clear, but the efect I prefer is that it makes me more relax. Actualy, a few minutes after taking it I normaly take a deep breath and suddenly start feeling more calm. This is actually very pleasant as it takes away the anxiety I felt most of my life.
I observed this penomenon more closely and realised that I tend to take 8 to 10 breaths per minute whereas human "normaly" breathe 12 to 14 times a minute.
Has anybody experienced something similar?

I have had an increse in anxiety in the last 10 years. I really have to concentrate to breathe slowly/deeply. You post interests me because there are a lot of people who say stims should not be prescribed to anyone with anxiety, yet there seems to be quite a few people on this forum that experience a decrease in their anxiety with stims.
How long have you taken Adderall and what is your dosage?
Thanks for the post.

I also noticed that I take very shallow breaths.
Before I was on medications.. I would get into zoned out phases where I would just sit and stare.. in a zombish state with little to no thought.. and I would notice that my breathing was extremely shallow.
It feels as though I only take in a breath about the top quarter of my lungs... and dont use the rest of them :D
I know sounds wierd but, with stimulants I noticed that when I first started the medication it would put me in that zomibe state.. and my breathing would be very slow and light.

I have been using AdderallXR 15mg for a little over 5 months.
The relief from anxiety is the greatest benefit I have from the med. It helps also with concentration and planification...but if that were the only benefit I was having from it i would probably not be taking it.
You see loosing my keys 3 times a day and having a very very messy room is indeed a problem...but I'm not sure I would medicate it...now the anxiety thats different...getting rid of it really makes a difference.
And I was speaking about the breathing patern as it is the first sign I have of my decrease in anxiety.
Now the strange thing is that I have been recently tested for my arterial blood gas...and it showed that I have respiratory alkalemia i.e. an excess of oxygen in the blood. This normally happens with hyperventilation...but as I said earlier, i breathe significantly less than the average person! How could it be then that I hyperventilate? And is it that hyperventilation that causes me to be more relaxed?
I hope someone has some kind of idea or explanation for this weird phenomenon!
