I am on week 3 of Strattera at 25mg 2x a day. I have noticed that I am irritable. I feel anxious inside and unsettled! Is this a common side effect that will go away?
I do have anxiety as well, but all of the anxiety meds. I tried had sexual side effects.
Help?

Try taking the 50mg all at once?
I don't get how twice a day dosing is supposed to work since Strattera releases bursts throughout the day -- so by taking it twice you have a part of the day in the middle on higher drugs but the rest on lower. So maybe you're getting anxiety from having sub-par drugs for your tolerance level most of the day and your body doesn't know wtf is going on ever because of it?
Seriously, give that a try.

Thank You! Advice well taken:) I took my first dose this morning, then read your reply a few minutes later, I just went and took 25mg more. I am curious to see what will happen. I totally understand your point, my doctor wanted me to go slow...however, when you are up to the higher doses it doesn't make sense.
Thanks:D

You are so sweet to check in!:) I did what you suggested, with taking the entire dose at once. It really hasn't made a difference yet, :( I saw my doctor today for a med. review and she wants me to up the dose to 40mg. 2x a day. She has encouraged me to try it for another 2 weeks and hope that the anxiety subsides.
Does it usually take a while?

No idea. I'm definetly curious if the higher dose helps though.
I had a few days when I felt a little unsteady. All my side effects were pretty much gone by three weeks though. Came back a little when I upped the doses. Now I have none (at 100mg a day).
You and I have opposite side effects though. Mostly I got sleepy, then once that got better I was calmer. Well, not noticeably sedated-type calm, but more like able to deal with stress better. I would stick it out to find out what your steady state is going to be. If it "works", you'll feel a hell of a lot more capable and able to manage your day.
If it doesn't get better, maybe strattera isn't your drug. Even though we all have ADD symptoms, I'm a believer that lots of us might have different things going on in our brains to make that happen.

I'm sorry to say this but the irritability never went away for me, so I had to stop it on the spot. It was very very very bad. Your best bet I think is to speak to the doctor about your side effects and see if there is anything else that you could take that might not have this side effect.

I met with my doctor last week and she wants me to try it for 2 more weeks at a higher dose, 80mg (40mg 2x daily). So far so good, the irritability has improved.
I have noticed that I am wanting sex more.;) Hubby does not know what to do with me. hehehe I am able to focus better throughout the day, however I feel reved up at times. Like I am on some kind of speed, not that I would know, but just ready to go. I have alot of energy anyway, but this is like my insides are jittery and go, go, go.
I hope it all subsides soon! It would be nice to find a med. that works. I haven't gotten the calming effect yet, which is what I loved about Prozac. I felt calm and focused, the side effects were unpleasant.:(
