Hey,

I've been taking fast-acting Dexedrine for about 4 years now (25mg/ day) and have found that for the last 6 months or so that it hasn't being working its magic. Basically I'm wanting to switch to a different drug, but am apprehensive because fast-acting Dexedrine is the only medication that has worked for me. Ritalin, Concerta and even time-release Dexedrine have all failed in the past. I'm leaning towards Adderall, but have a few quesions:

1) I get very bad withdrawl when I don;t take my Dexadrine, would the Dex in Adderall make the transition seamless? or no?

2) The 'rush' one gets from the Dexadrine really helps me get down to the task at hand/ amped on things I would usually put off or not do. This rush is a must for an ADD med to work for me, so does Adderall have a comparable feeling?

3) Does anyone know of any other drugs that would be a good match for me, or have any sort of advice along that line?

Well, any help or feedback would be much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Perhaps augment with a small dose of wellbutrin or strattera. I'm not a doctor, just a suggestion.

Perhaps you might talk to your Dr. about a possible dosage increase? For instance, I take 60mg of IR Dexedrine a day. That breaks down to 20mg 3 times a day.

Adderall is one of the only prescription stimulants that I experience sedation from. I wish I could explain why I experience sedation from one form of amphetamine compared to another, but I do not have a good explanation as to why that is.

Some people need higher doses, and some people do fine on very small doses. I read a post here at this site once where a person claimed that they were taking 240mg of Dexedrine a day. For me, that is way too much, but I do know that everyone is different in the way they respond to these drugs.

In fact, I remember reading a report at remedyfind.com about a person there who claimed that a microdose of only 1.25mg a day worked best for them. They would break a 5mg tablet in half, and then break that half in half to get the 1.25mg dose. For me, that is not nearly enough.

I did not start out at 60mg though, and it was only through years of trial and error that my Dr. and me were able to find the proper dose.

Great advice, both of you. I'm thinking of maybe talking to my doctor and exploring the suppliment dose increase approaches, because both seem like they're the solution. Again, I really appreciated the advice and many thanks to both of you.

LARS:

"I read a post here at this site once where a person claimed that they were taking 240mg of Dexedrine a day."

I read that one time posters reports as well, but i was thinking he was BS. He claimed he was "an ultra rapid metaboliser" and took 2, 20mg Dex (don't come in 20mg tabs) 6x daily, then 3, 20mg Adderall 4x daily for 240mg. didn't believe it, what Doc would script that?
