View Full Version : whats the dsm iv criteria for a moderator?
jacinta 01-18-07, 02:12 AM Naturally, didn't ready the irrelevant bits like forum guide, new members etc before posting and already I'm a junior member! What does it take to go all the way to the top? seriously, how do you rank postees. Also who started ADD forums?

~boots~ 01-18-07, 04:29 AM I just had a look, and the post I am thinking of is hiding from me :-)
rwindsor 01-18-07, 04:36 AM The wisdom of Solomon, the patience of Job and the hide of an elephant
Also a strong desire not to sleep and more spare time than can be imagined

RegardsLOL...and a good sence of humour...:D oh, and the ability to totally forget who yells at you..I'm certainly good at that...not that anyone yells at me...:p ..but if you all yell at me, I'll forget soon enough...
oh, and broadband connection is good...LOL..
Crazy~Feet 01-18-07, 11:35 AM I've done it several times over several years, but not here (although I am no longer averse to that idea). You become a moderator by being asked by administration. Its really as simple as that, although RWindsor has done an excellent job at explaining how one gets noticed by staff as a potential moderator.
meadd823 01-18-07, 11:57 AM whats the dsm iv criteria for a moderator?
pleasantly insane. . . . . . .
Scattered 01-18-07, 12:52 PM The title changes under your name are simply due to how many posts you've made. The exception being very high posters have a right to chose their own title. Moderators are asked to be moderators by administration. When I was a moderator they told me it had to due with total time spent on line daily at ADD Forums and whether your posts indicated you'd do a good job keeping the peace (paraphrasing -- my words not their exact words).
I really liked rwindsors description!:) A lot of truth in that!

jacinta 01-18-07, 07:43 PM Thanx. The moderators are obviously dedicated. I'm very careful about the lack of inhibition. I tend to only do it with my partner (NOT LIKE THAT!) at 10 pm at night when I'm raving on about pineal glands, pyramids and phi...Having the strong desire not to sleep comes naturally..If only others weren't out of kilter with my sleep patterns.
Talking about sleep, found a cool site on the net (where else do you find sites) last night 'www.causeof.org (http://www.causeof.org)' (the cause of internet and tv addictions) which has info about melatonin, 5-HTP and so much more.
Crazy~Feet 01-18-07, 07:48 PM Maybe you wanna post your link in another forum so that others who may not post in this thread can have a look :) maybe the links section or adult ADD?
jacinta 01-18-07, 08:42 PM Hey, crazyfeet, is this easy or does it require some exertion, to which I am currently immune..having exhausted my mind last night discovering that I really DO understand PHI.
Crazy~Feet 01-18-07, 09:11 PM Hey, crazyfeet, is this easy or does it require some exertion, to which I am currently immune..having exhausted my mind last night discovering that I really DO understand PHI.Is what easy? I am afraid I don't understand what you are asking me?
EYEFORGOT 01-18-07, 10:22 PM Hi jacinta,
don't forget to check out the "How do I??START HERE!" thread at the top of Forums
Q & A. Your post count question is in there, so maybe some of the others (well, except the PHI thing) will be in there.
Have fun around here! You sound like someone who'd love chit chat.
jacinta 01-18-07, 10:22 PM Crazyfeet, is posting the link in another forum easy? do I just post my question again and does the rest follow or what? sorry, sometimes i find it easier to ask than to look?
EYEFORGOT 01-18-07, 10:24 PM No your whole thread here or post won't follow. You'd have to start a new post or thread in a section and put it there.

~boots~ 01-18-07, 10:25 PM Crazyfeet, is posting the link in another forum easy? do I just post my question again and does the rest follow or what? sorry, sometimes i find it easier to ask than to look?Jacinta, please don't double post the same question in more than one thread..you need to have it moved if need be..
double posts get deleted to keep it tidy :-)

Crazy~Feet 01-19-07, 12:49 AM No your whole thread here or post won't follow. You'd have to start a new post or thread in a section and put it there.

meadd823 01-19-07, 04:06 AM What are we studying ??? How to be ADD???
Moderators are asked to be moderators by administration. When I was a moderator they told me it had to due with total time spent on line daily at ADD Forums and whether your posts indicated you'd do a good job keeping the peace (paraphrasing -- my words not their exact words).
???????? I must spend a lot of time on the forums then. . . . . but I did begin in debates?????????????.
Maybe it was the opposite for me I really don't have a clue, . . . . .maybe the moderator corner was needing company. . . .things were toooo quiet ?????? . . . . .I just know I was asked that is about it. . . . I have some times wondered how this happened. . . . . . . .oh you have to behave. . . . . or they send ya to the moderator corner without any cookies and milk.
:D
Crazy~Feet 01-19-07, 04:10 AM I think I was previously asked to be a moderator because of my charming way with words AND my inordinantly high postcount AND because I tend to notice the little things that some people wish I did not notice ;) I also use to be quite the skilled debator, but Tammy puts me to shame. She is a mod today and I am not...see? Making sense now? :D
jacinta 01-19-07, 06:23 AM so, CF did nothing in moderation and became a moderator? Think I get it.
Crazy~Feet 01-19-07, 07:05 AM so, CF did nothing in moderation and became a moderator? Think I get it.At four other forums, but never here. The subject matter at the other forums was very different than the topics we deal with daily here at ADDF.
jacinta 01-19-07, 07:16 AM I must not ask what I fear...fear is the mind killer.

jacinta 01-20-07, 04:57 AM When is national add/adhd awareness day in America? I don't think we have one in Australia..could be wrong..maybe I just wasn't paying attention to it. Is this one of the things that could hurt if said to someone with ADD 'Do you mind if I finish.' I feel hurt when someone who knows me says it. I was thinking it might be a good idea if I wore one of those bracelets that diabetics do..except mine would say..'when I butt in, go off thread, zone out, hyperfocus, go off meds....don't give me a jelly baby..just stay cool..I've got ADD'. Although I wouldn't mind if someone gave me a jelly baby..
meadd823 01-20-07, 07:36 AM Some time in September. . . . .it was the 17th I think.
Luckily seriousness isn't necessarily a requirement to be a moderator
Things I think they look at. . .
Knowledge about the subject of ADD and or people helps
Regularity of attendance
Ability to adhear the the guidelines
Length of time as a member/long haul
Ability to take ummm heat
Ability to handle an opposing opinion in civilized manner
Ability to take correction well/ this is important
Willingness to help others/very important
Team player
Oh the qualitities they look for in a moderator. . . . .remembering topics

I'm willing to help, but have a terrible tendency to forget what I am supposed to do..sigh...
I am happy though :D :D :D and try to be cheerful and supportive where I can..
