Hello,
Nearing the end of my first month on 27 mg. of Concerta/day and am noticing, especially today, increased feelings of jitteriness that coincide with PMS time of the month. Has anyone else observed that before their period they feel more "wired" when they're on meds?
Thanks!

Thanks!I recall feeling that way a little bit during the 1-month period I took Adderall-xr.
With strattera, I generally feel more tense and just generally sad at that time of the month (e.g., about things that do and don't normally get me down. Last month at that time I was afraid to watch "An Inconvenient Truth" because I was afraid I'd get increasingly depressed about global warming!). I also have worse cramps and my period is longer than it used to be.
Funny how medication for the head can affect the whole body in unexpected ways...

I'm also on Concerta (36 for almost a year) and get anxiety around that time of the month. From what I've been able to read, it's from the flucuations in hormones affecting the efficacy of the med. I tried (with ok from my pdoc) taking a slightly higher dose for that week (in the form of generic ritalin) and found things going almost back to normal. I also added more soy to my diet (yea phytoestrogens and protiens) which I found help a lot more than I anticipated.

Hi - thanks for sharing your experience. In addition to the jitters, which hit earlier in the day, severe fatigue set in as the day went on, and I was in bed by 7.phew! I've had major problems with fatigue and depression before, so this isn't new, but my first few weeks on Concerta I was so much more energetic than I'd been in some time. Maybe I'll see what my dr. thinks about additional dosage around PMS time.

I have the same problem & don't know what to do.
I am horribly tired & moody right before my period. I can't really tell if my meds are working or not. I am a nightmare in my own body.
Ritalin LA 20mg 3x a day.
How do you take the soy? Milk?

How do you take the soy? Milk?Brooke, I am the same way but only when I take strattera. I get really, really depressed about stuff that doesn't normally get me down. Pdoc #2 (therapy doc) wants me to speak to pdoc #1 (med doc) about whether I have (strattera-induced?) PMDD. Apparently it can be treated with prozac. On for the two weeks pre-period, and off again for the good two weeks afterwards. If anybody on here has tried this, I'd like to hear more about your experiences and success with it.

Soymilk and soy cereals like Kashi, although not usually together. And some edamame if there is left over in the grocery budget. I like tofu too, but my husband refuses to eat it so I don't usually cook it.

I think I must also be going through a little PMS. My meds don't seem to be working as well. I feel disorganized and not quite connected and my house is going to heck. I guess I'll the straterra increase.

I didn't ask and my doctor didn't advise of any potential effects of ADD meds on hormones. The meds are disrupting my cycle..need to talk to the doctor. Its sort of disappointing cause the meds help but I don't want to have to worry about what they are doing to my hormones..frustrating.
