It can especially when you first start taking it. I lost weight the first couple of months but after that I returned to my normal weight and it no longer effects my appetite or weight.

I find I am not hungry during the day, so eat a few small meals, but then night time comes around and I am ravenous..hence, a weight gain of about 4 kgs:o

I had to switch to taking the immediate release version of dexedrine because I needed the rebound hunger because the long acting meds seemed to make me go a week or two without food, and I am a guy who looks like Nicole Ritchie so some don't develop a tolerance to the appetite loss and the IR version can subside that

It could make you lose weight. these drugs are sometimes prescribed for this purpose I learned. My grandma took dexadrine for weight loss (doctor presribed it to her), and it worked for her.

Well, it's now used off label for weight loss as this was when it first was introduced and before they (whoever they is at the time I don't know), found out it could be used for adhd too. My grandma took it when my mom was little ( my mom was born in the early 50's so when she was a child that I guess would be around late 50's/early 60's.) I don't think it was used for ADHD back then but that may be a mistake made by me too. I do know however from what my mom said that it was a big weight loss drug at that time. When the doctor prescribes you this drug for weight loss, they usually prescribe the lowest dose, and you take it until your weight no longer drops. Once there becomes no benefit from the drug you are taken off it. In the case of weight loss, they don't usually continue to increase it, once the low dose fails to work anymore you are taken off it. I hope this all makes since seemings how I'm jumping around in this post...

I can attest to the weight loss. I’m down 10 lbs after 2 months on Dex. I hope I can put the weight back on, but this time in muscle, not fat.

12 lbs in 1 month, taking adderall 20mg xr once daily.

but i added excersise into the mix. i play competition level soccer, and i was affraid that i would loose my "edge" when i started taking it, so i jog for 20min in the evening and scrimmage every weeknight with friends for about 1 and 1/2 hours. plus ab work/sprinting/ and pushups.

when the meds start to wear off though LOOK OUT, i want to grab every chicken wing and frenchfry in the vicinity, and i have to REALLY REALLY control myself around that time (usually 9pm and on until i go to sleep).

Up about 10 pounds in 4 weeks. Compared to how my appetite was when I was taking Adderall, I pretty much pig out now.

Only dex dosent make you loose weigth, but my experience is that dex makes a change of eating habbits (since it messes with your apetite) a lot easier, and when I did that and combined it with going to the gym three times a week, first jogging for 15-20 min and then doing a weigth lifting program, the kiloes came of so fast that people thougth I had a eating disorder (and I dont).
But you need to do all the three, not just stop eating or just lift weigths(just weigths and a bad eating rutines wil make you look like the hulks fat cousin).
What I'm trying to say is that all of this is easier to do on dex, as there is a reason that its considderd doping when a athlete takes the stuff...

I've been losing weight since around Thanksgiving due to an inintentional lighter diet and have started going to the gym again last week. I also started Dex last week (that's how I got the motivation to go to the gym in the first place) and I'm hopeful that it'll help a little to keep me moving toward my goal. I guess it'll at least help me focus on it more rather than getting distracted as usual.

I do get hungry when it wears off but if I eat sometime small as soon as that starts (and ate a few small things throught the day), I seem to be able to avoid the pig out for the most part. I don't get nearly as ravenous as I dod coming off Adderall though. When that tummy grumble started, you sure as hell did *not* want to stand between me and food. Could be dangerous. Lol.

Nighttime eating is one of my biggest weak points and has no doubt been a big reason I haven't been able to lose weight for some time now. I'm pretty much refusing to eat after a certain hour and I'm not having dinner at 8:00 anymore because I'm actually getting up at a decent hour and finishing my day earlier.
So in that way, I think the Dex is contributing to my weight loss. I just hope I can hold strong and not go back to my late night munchie ways. :P
