Hmmm I'm sure I posted this a second ago but I cant find it. So I'm posting it again.
--------------------------------------
I still haven't been diagnosed with ADD, yet. I will going to Drs very shortly.

However, at one time about 5 years ago I was treated with a Effexor for depression and anxiety. I only took it for two months. It really helped me and I have never had my depression really come back. One thing I noticed at the time, was I was much more organised and was able to keep everything tidy. Since going off the Effexor I have noticed that my organisation and tidyness has got much worse. I would say much more worse than before I was given Effexor. Could it be possible that going off Effexor has made me less organised? Why would this be?

Also is Effexor perscribed for ADD? I'm just curious, because I found it amazing at the time, that I became much more organised.

Effexor is Daniel Amen's medicine of choice for what he calls "overfocused" ADD, in which a portion of the brain called the cingulate gyrus, the mechanism that allows us to shift our attention, is naturally "overheated." Dr. Amen has published many books and is considered a guru by many, but the DSM does not officially recognize his subcategories of ADD (such as "overfocused"). I'm actually considering trying it. Did you have any side effects? Why did you stop taking it?

Um I went off it, because I didn't want to take it forever. I was young and my dad just had being diagnosed with bipolar. SO I was skeptical of drugs and thought it was quite scary how it could change my behaviour so dramatically. I just took at the time to help my anxiety and to help lift my depression, which it did. I was on a very low dose. The DR didn't seem to worry that I went off it.

At that time I hadn't pointed out any concerns of ADD to my dr.

I haven't heard of Dr Amen before. I'll have to read up on him :)
