View Full Version : For Canucks only or those that know some. Tell the Federal Govt What to Do About ADHD

01-22-07, 09:52 PM
You don't often get a chance to tell the Govt what to do on an issue like this so please take advantage of it. Deadline Thursday Jan 25. It's a simple one page survey no name or email required

If you don't like the way that ADHD is being handled or being ignored, here's a chance for you to express yourself and make a difference. If ADDers don't bother to try and change things for ADHD in Canada, no one will do it for them. Other mental conditions get more money, legislation and resources because they demand them.

"The purpose of this consultation is to allow you and all Canadians to share your views on mental health and mental illness, particularly federal priorities in this area and the proposed mental health commission.

In particular, we would like your views on the following:

1. the need (or lack thereof) for a mental health commission;
2. the mandate, functions and activities of such a commission;
3. the structure of such a commission, including possible choices for advisory committees and special areas of focus; and
4. the appropriate federal government priorities in mental health and mental illness."

so please take advantage of it. Deadline Thursday Jan 25. Itís a simple one page survey no name or email required. Please help get the word out on this to other Canadian ADDers.

Here's my blog post on it with some possible responses

Hey, Pete! I was watching Global news about the adult ADHD clinic I didn't even know existed at Children's and Women's Hospital and thought the name Pete sounded familiar. Good on you!

Thanks Imnapl,

I talked about it in more detailed on my blog you might want to check it out

if you're in the Vancouver area you might want to drop by my Vancouver adult ADD support group, we meet once a month. there's also CHADD Vancouver our parent group and a new north shore CHADD chapter.

I'm in the process of organizing a group of people to try to do a media political campaign either get adequate funding to reopen the clinic to adults or have it at another location. let me know if you'd like to help out.
