i was wondering i have been taking adderal for a month and half now ...i started out on 10mg once in the morning and once in the afternoon...after two weeks dr raised it to 15mg in twice a day...that worked fine for a few days ...but got really really tired around 4 pm.... i recently went back to the dr...and the put me on 10mg 4x a day....1st at 8 am 2nd at 12pm 3rd at 3pm and 4th at 6pm ....it seems to be working great ...is this to much of a dose? i have very high metabolism does that have anything to do with it... thanks for any responses i really appreciate it ..

It's only too much of a dose if you are getting bad side effects from it. Since you are taking 40mg a day that would equal (1) 20mg XR pill twice per day which is very common in the XR world.

i dont have any side affects really ...sometimes my appetite varies but its ok im not losing weight ....like i did the first few weeks i forgot to mention at bedtime i take .5 clondine ... so 40mg is good as long as its working thats great ...makes me feel alot better ....thanks for the response jr

I also have a high metabolism and currently take 2 x 20mg Adderall XR in the morning. I was also concerned about the dose being too high but from what my psychiatrist tells me it is average. I also lost some weight in the beginning but that has leveled out and I am maintaining a consitent wieght again.

i guess i forgot to say i take the IR tablets not the xr now would that make a difference

Your dosage is in the range. Some require 5mgs 1x daily, while i'v read of 240mgs daily.I really do not mean for this to sound like criticism but you should not imply that 240mgs daily is okay. That is heart attack or stroke material. Be careful, people--I would say anything above 60mg warrants very careful concern. I post this only in the interest of the other members here--I take adderall myself and have, in the past, taken as much as 150mg (only once in a year). Let me tell you, although this was spread out over 16 hours or more, I was tingling all over and was absolutely prepared to call 911. This is way, way dangerous at such large doses.

if you aren't sure what to believe just think about it--this dosage would be over 8 times the largest pill they make. do not take this kind of quantity.

240 mgs could be dangerous. that's heavy duty on the heart. Even a little bit of a stimulant med alone could potenially raise your blood pressure. If it goes up at the lowest dose your doing major damage at 240 mg. I'd stick w/ under 60 and if something needs tweaking above that, it may be time to switch to a new med or be very careful at a 60+ dosage...
