I know this sounds awfully shallow but if the price to pay for focus is a lack of sex drive...well I don't know if it's worth it. I'm not stud or anything but that never was a problem for me until I started recently on the Adderall.

Does anyone know if there are any effected ADD drugs that don't have negative sexual side effects? And how many days after stopping Adderall does the libido go back to normal?

Ok, here's the odd thing...a lot of people (myself included) report the opposite effect. Wellbutrin, which has similar properties, is sometimes prescribed for people who experience a lessening of libido on SSRIs.

Unfortunately, most ADHD drugs work in similar ways. It is possible that methylphenidate (Ritalin) or atomoxetine (Strattera) may not have this effect on you, but there's no way to tell. Talk it over with your doctor, as it is also possible that merely lowering the dosage could help.

And your concern isn't shallow. I used to date a girl who experienced a loss of libido from an SSRI, and it definitely impacted our lives. If it makes you unhappy and causes problems in your personal life, then it's definitely a serious concern.

I have to agree with Hyperion on this. Meds work differently on different people, so you will just have to try other options until you find one that works for you. There is no one med that can be said not to cause a particular side effect across the board for every person.

Strattera affected my sex life so I quit taking it. It was/is not worth it.
