Have there been any studies does on the efficiency of Anti-Psychotic mono-therapy on depressive disorders?

I've read somewhere that they use antipsychotics in combination with anti-depressants in severe depression that's accompany'd with psychotic episodes. I never had severe depression before as I've gotten treatment and the dx in time but I don't see the antidepressant effect in the Risperdal I'm taking...
