Hi everyone,
I have been lurking around the site for the past few weeks reading about others and finally decided to post. I was recently diagnosed with ADD at age 29, although like most of you I have been dealing with it for alot longer than that. I am glad that there is finally a reason for spacing out, fidgeting, extreme procrastination etc, but at the same time I am wishing that someone had noticed my problems sooner so that I could have been in a different place in my life now. For the most part I have been able to get by with my natural intelligence and ability to manipulate a situation to my advantage, but I always felt different and that there was a problem with the way my brain worked. Hopefully I can learn from everyone here and look forward to interacting with you all. happy holidays

You're in good company Jess. I would have done a little better with my greeting, but I am a bit distracted by the fact that I am once again misunderstood by those who are supposed to know me best. People who are also supposedly reading up on ADHD!

Sigh, so you see, you are in good company... Oh yeah, and I'm here too! ;-)

Welcome and happy holidays. I am sure you will find this site a very nice place to be. I also did not discover I had ADD till much later in life.

Hi, Jessica. Welcome. I grew up in New Jersey, and love it still. No matter where we live now, we can all get together in a flash right here.

Hi Jessica,

Don't despair about finding out so late in life. I confirmed I had ADD last year at age 41. No doubt it has taken a toll on my life and in moments of despair, and anguish, and I don't feel good about it. I have plenty of unfinished projects, unfulfilled dreams, one marriage that hit the rocks and another in shambles. Yet on better days, I remain upbeat about it all. People on these forums have been a great support and you will build a helpful network based on how much you lean on everyone. Welcome!
