I find that if I don't take my second dose of dex before 2pm, then I can't get to sleep until very late.

I am taking 2 doses at the moment, one at 8am, one around 1pm.

I have heard that if I took a dose closer to when I go to bed, then I could get to sleep easier? is that true?

It may be true for you it may not be true for you. Everyones body is different so the only way to know for sure is to try it that way. Figuring as a stimulant it would keep you up, but figuring as adhd where it'd help you focus on sleeping, maybe it would. Speak to your doctor about it to see if it's ok to do that first before trying it.

i think it kinda depends upon why you are having problems falling asleep.

zacharry, it is because I am still feeling alert when I go to bed.

In this case the dexadrine may not help you get to sleep unless the dex slows you down. I think it'd be best to take a sleep aid like Ambien CR or Lunesta if it gets real bad. If it's manageable I'd stick it out for another month if you are just starting. It may lessen with time.
