View Full Version : 4 medications, anybody do that now?
netsavy006 01-30-07, 12:14 PM I'm wondering if there is anyone on this medication combo:
An SSRI Anti-Depressant
An atypical Anti-Psychotic
A methylphenidate-based Stimulant
Clonodine
If so, does this combination work for you? Do you get major side effects? I will be speaking to the doctor next month about this one in particular:
zoloft
risperdal
focalin xr
clonodine
Thanks,
Andy
SoCal21 01-31-07, 03:38 PM You should be fine. I take several(4) antipsychotics daily, in addition to a large dose of Adderall. No side effects whatsoever, but I used to party like a rockstar, so my tolerance may be higher than your's.
netsavy006 02-01-07, 10:07 AM I understand. I can't take the lunesta anymore because the insurance won't pay for it, and I don't have the $ to buy it myself. I'm being switched to Ambien CR. I feel that's the same deal but I don't understand why she is starting me on 12.5mg when they make 6.25mg doses?
LittleD1981 02-04-07, 03:14 AM I'm not on Clonidine, but aside from that, my med combo is similar. This is what I am taking currently:
Wellbutrin XL
Lexapro
Provigil
Abilify
Adderall
Gabitril
I think, though, that I'm going to be switching back to Focalin XR when I have my appt. next week. Lately I've been switching back and forth between that and Adderall every month or two due to tolerance, and the Adderall is starting to wane now. I have tolerance issues with all of my medications. I just started Lexapro 2 weeks ago, after weaning off of Effexor XR, as that had stopped working and I was becoming depressed again. I've been on over 35 different psychiatric medications over the past 6 1/2 years. I've had a lot of good combos during that time, but the tolerance always comes in and something stops working, so I need an adjustment or to switch to a different medication from time to time.
OpieBopie 02-04-07, 06:56 PM I take Zoloft 100mg, Abilify 15 mg, Adderall XL 30 mg Straterra and Buspar
Momofadder 02-08-07, 09:02 AM My son takes Adderal XR, Dexedrine 5 MG, Prozac and Clonidine daily. It is working pretty well. He takes one Dex with his adderal in the morning and another Dex at 4 in the afternoon. Sounds like a lot but it has only taken us 2 years and 2 doctors to get to this point. perhaps a some point the Adderal may be cut because I don't think it does much for him.

Crazy~Feet 02-08-07, 09:16 AM I take:
Concerta in the daytime, Dex in the evenings, Abilify 3 times a day, an antihistamine with antianxiety properties called Atarax 3 times a day, and Lamictal at bedtime :) That does not include allergy, asthma or chronic pain medications....
netsavy006 02-08-07, 09:38 AM Crazy~Feet if you don't mind my asking, why did you switch from risperdal to abilify? Was risperdal not working for you? I know abilify wasn't right for me, because the uppered dopamine properties is what made me worse...
netsavy006 02-08-07, 09:40 AM I'm also noticing that the Ambien CR 12.5mg is also making my agitation/irritability worse too, so I'm gonna have to stop this one too. One problem is that I'm so use to taking a sleep aid, that I think I've gotten dependant on taking it, but I don't feel addicated as I've never overdosed or have skipped some nights and been ok. Only thing is, my doctor is on vacation and my appt is not untill 2/28. Do I just take the Ambien CR till then or stop and go to another doctor at the counseling center I go to for a different prescription?
Crazy~Feet 02-08-07, 10:01 AM Crazy~Feet if you don't mind my asking, why did you switch from risperdal to abilify? Was risperdal not working for you? I know abilify wasn't right for me, because the uppered dopamine properties is what made me worse...Risperdal worked great for me, actually. It just so happened that after a period of time I began to have one of the rarer side effects of Risperdal :o...did you know Risperdal can make human beings lactate, even males?
netsavy006 02-08-07, 10:06 AM Wow. I read that in the side effects on wallgreens prescription info but then forgot. Glad you reminded me...
netsavy006 02-08-07, 10:07 AM So I'm guessing so far it hasn't happend with the abilify CF?
Crazy~Feet 02-08-07, 10:45 AM So I'm guessing so far it hasn't happend with the abilify CF?Nope! I also had some severe edema with Risperdal, but I have no side effects that I can report with Abilify.
netsavy006 02-08-07, 12:07 PM As far as I know, I don't have the edema, and I'm glad I dont...
netsavy006 02-08-07, 12:08 PM :) Good to know you don't have any side effects... :)
LittleD1981 02-09-07, 02:45 PM Risperdal made me lactate as well. What a horrible and embarrassing experience that was! I was on a camping trip when it started happening. Ugh! No side effects with Abilify here either.
netsavy006 02-10-07, 01:18 PM How long does it take before this starts to happen so I know about what time to definatly start looking out for it?
netsavy006 02-10-07, 01:19 PM So far I have not done that yet so I'm glad...
Crazy~Feet 02-10-07, 09:21 PM How long does it take before this starts to happen so I know about what time to definatly start looking out for it?Took me quite a few months Andy, then all of a sudden...blammo. It was quite a blow because I truly liked the way the Risperdal worked!
netsavy006 02-11-07, 09:37 PM One thing I do know is that the risperdal effects my concentration level so I'll have to be careful when I drive a car...
netsavy006 02-22-07, 04:44 PM Will ask the doc about this combination when I see her next week. I will be sure to print out the Focalin XR trial voucher...
