I just turned 21 a few weeks ago, and I don't care for this age at all. I can be friends with almost anybody as long as I can break the ice. One problem I'm having is that I can get along with children and adults, but I've never really got along with teenagers. Thing is, it's hard to tell whether I can talk to people my age about the things I want. I've got some friends who ramble constantly about videogames or technical things, some who never shut up about MTV or fashion, and others who are obsessed with cars. I just kinda wonna chill, cuz I'm by no means mature, but I'm really wondering when all this one dimensional, almost shallow teenager business finally goes away, if ever.

Oh, it certainlly goes away.

It has been my experience that it goes away as the years roll by, or when you decide for it to go away (which ever comes first). I know that is probably not the answer you were hoping for, but that is how it unfolded for me.

In time you will find that the world does not change nearly as much as you yourself change concering things like this.

I wish you the best in all things.

I hate small talk. It's sometimes hard to find good friends that have similar experiences to share with. As far as MTV and video games it sounds like you just don't occupy your time with them so it's not a bad thing that you don't have much to say about them. Don't start watching MTV just because you want something to talk about. Maybe introduce some of your MTV/video game loving friends to more interesting things.
