Do other ADDers find that their peripheral vision is better than non-ADDers. People with 'normal' foveal vision when fixing their vision (from memory you have to cover one eye while you do the test and not let your eye move) on a 4/5 letter word in this paragraph will only see that word with 100% acuity. But I see about 3-5 words with acuity. I'm not sure if this is because my peripheral vision is better or what? I think its a good thing in some ways but I find that it can be distracting when I'm looking for something on a supermarket shelf!!!

I have heard that women have better peripheral vision than men, so that may be the basis for the contradiction. I'm unaware of any correlation to ADD.

Good question, though. I often get the feeling that I catch stuff when driving quicker than other people. I'm usually first to notice the ball bouncing into the street or the car pulling out of the hidden driveway. That sort of thing.

My peripheral vision was the first thing I noticed when I started taking Adderall. Before Adderall I minds well have been wearing blinders. I swear my vison and hearing has improved. Colors even seem brighter now. It's strange. B

My peripheral vision was the first thing I noticed when I started taking Adderall. Before Adderall I minds well have been wearing blinders. I swear my vison and hearing has improved. Colors even seem brighter now. It's strange. BI noticed things like this after about 15 minutes of taking my first dose of Adderall. My normally fuzzy vision seemed more clear and all the lights at night seemed to glow brighter.

But I think the original post was about vision/awareness being better for those with ADD than those without. I don't think are peripheral vision is any better than average, but little details tend to stand out more for us. Most people for example when driving just focus on the road ahead and car right in front of them. We unintentionally see everything at the same time and notice things that aren't really important. Such as the leaves blowing on the trees in the background and wondering why that ******* 4 cars ahead of you in the other lane is tailgaiting the car in front of him. :D
