View Full Version : How many file taxes on their own?
Just spent a frustrating evening doing our income taxes. How many of you do your own, or hire someone to do them?
With hubby and 4 kids half my papers had been moved... had to do an extensive search to find 2 of them. :(
My husband is an accountant so I let him do the taxes. Of course I screwed them up last year because we got married in November of 2001 and I files single for 2001. Even though I was single most of the year I still had to file as married...
My husband fixed them and refiled but...He can handle them from now on...lol
My taxes are actually quite complicated, so I am forced to hire a relatively large accounting firm to do them for me. Nothing is ever easy.
Lafnalot 03-19-03, 03:55 PM I would rather stick red hot needles into my eyelids than mess with taxes or numbers, so we have someone file for us. It is usually and evening that consists of his smoking too much and barking at me and me fuming and thinking of ways to hurt him in his sleep. (thats a joke....most of the time) A fun time is had by all.
Calicogirl 03-22-03, 06:14 PM Heh - I love numbers. I love the way they are black and white - right or wrong. So I do my taxes as soon as I get all the paperwork in January. It is fun (!) for me.
I also highly recommend electronic internet taxing. It has all the latest news and claims.
phischeyeat 03-26-03, 03:55 PM I can do the taxes, but I really like the nice organized packets the professional hands me, i drop it in the file box and I know all the stuff is there if i need it. If i do it, there are w2's here, 1099's there and I usually end up in a panic when i need it two years later.
Sorry I haven't been in lately. Been really down lately, not wanting to anything. Thanks for those that are posting. Just when I thought things were getting better my allergies kicked in. Benedryl helps for a little while, but not long.
Our IEP meetings all went great. I know I told some of you in the room.
Everyone take care.
I file our own taxes and I wait until the last minute because they take them for arrears that John's ex accumulated by fraudulently receiving ADC. So I make them wait as long as possible since they don't want to listen to us and allow us to present proof that John was still in the house at the time. He didn't find out about this until years later. It took that long for the state of Kansas to get their **** in gear and discover this. (Rolls her eyes) I'm really getting tired of the way the court systems treats non-custodial parents that are good parents. (After all it was his ex who cheated and caused the break up.)
My taxes are done, paid and OUT....T.G!!!
misclee 04-16-03, 11:54 PM www.taxslayer.com very cheap and easy
Federal taxes if you make under $30,000 has some free links to do your taxes on..and if your state has state taxes and are linked to them..they will do you state taxes as well.

MaNaeSWolf 08-22-07, 11:43 AM I dont care about tax. I dont do my own tax. Infact if I get paid any less than I do now I dont acctually have to pay tax.
I actually just wanted to revive the oldest thread in the Chit-Chat section. Dont care about tax yet, will do that when it starts eating away notasable sections of my salary. SARS - I am yet to hate you.
Oh, I dont expect anyone to continue keeping this thread alive, TAX is boring, I studied Accounting for a year to confirm that. this thread must DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
busyhermit 08-22-07, 11:51 AM Too many long, complicated forms with stupid number-names that I have glanced at, had no clue about and found no desire to learn. Nothing shiny there, man. I'll pay anybody whatever they ask to just do it for me.
ProcrastN8R2 08-22-07, 08:23 PM I want to choose both of the last two choices!!!
P.S. I'm an accountant.
Somebody does my taxes- my parents. Too young for taxes at the moment :p
