I recently started taking a calcium supplement with calcium citrate which is suppose to be absorbed better. Wow -- what a difference! I wasn't expecting or looking for a difference -- my nails had just been very thin and flimsy so I thought I might need one. A few days after I started I found myself feeling calmer and more comfortable in the own skin, which led to better thinking and getting more done. I started wondering if there was any connection to the calcium and did a bit of on line reading and found out that there are actually studies indicating the calcium supplementation can help anxiety folks if their calcium intake has been inadequate (there is also a risk of bipolar mania being induced in some people -- apparently too little = anxiety; too much = mania in folks at risk for that). I also found they've done research and found extra calcium in the diet can help with PMS symptoms. In one recent 3 month study it reduced PMS (bloating, mood swing, etc) symptoms by 48%. Anyway, I was just curious if anyone else had noticed any differences with calcium.
