I have a white something in the back of my throat. The doctor took a look down there on Tuesday, when I went to see the walk-in, and she didn't know what it was. The student doctor looked down my throat and thought I still had my tonsels (which I don't). My throat is swollen and I have this white thing that the doc determined wasn't a puss pocket (think goodness), she did a throat culture which I still have yet to get the results. I am taking Penicillan VK for it and hopefully it will clear up. If not, I have to see an ENT specialist to find out what it is...

Any ideas as to what it is? I will make sure to say Ahhh.......... lolz....

I just went through the same situation. Weird huh? For a month I had a terrible sore throat; it was swollen, red, white spots/streaks. My throat even bleed at one point, I mean it bleed ALOT. It was gross!

I went to the doctor, had a throat test done for strep- which came back negative. They gave me antibiotics anyway and sent me on my way. That didn't help, the drama continued. A month later of going through this I had an appointment with my doctor anyway to discuss ADD meds. She decided to test me for a yeast infection. Just what? It was an advanced yeast infection in my throat. I took Zithromax for 5 days and Difulcan (double strength) for a week. It is gone and I feel great!

I know how you feel, it is frustrating when the doctors are puzzled about your health.

Good Luck! Let me know what happens next.

A couple of months ago my step daughter had a very large white spot on her tonsil - swollen thoat. Thought it was strep- turned out to be a canker sore! A very large canker sore. Took about 3 weeks to go away.

I understand Nova. It's no big deal. It's getting better and that's the best thing...

My medical records show that my tonsils were surgically removed before I even knew they 'existed' (when I was very, very young)...so I can't do anything other than say 'I wish you the best', when it comes to information on 'nodules' in the back of one's throat. (0;

I dont' have my tonsels either. they were removed when I was in 8th grade and I'm a college sophmore now. My brother's were removed when he was only 5 years old. I remember that I went into surgery that morning and only had to stay till 3pm because I was drinking liquads like there was no tomorrow. Only tomorrow the pain set in as the pain medicaine and anestisia wore off...

Do you know if they removed your adnoids when they took your tonsils out? If not, the mystery spot could be some sort of infection/inflamation of them. Another possiblity would be some sort of cyst. I had a small cyst that resembled a puss pocket. It was very painful while it was inflamed.
