My doctor just started me out on Strattera 2 days ago. She is trying to get me to a higher dose quickly because I have comprehensive qualifying exams in 3 weeks that I am trying to study for. I started on 25mg and am now up to 40 on day 2 and feel a little wierd. My sinuses are kind of burny like when you have a cold or flu and I feel a little sluggish, but my mental clarity and focus are light years better. I am pretty sure that this will pass, but wondered if anyone had experience with Strattera.
Thanks.

That is fast-I just started on 40, after a week on 25, maybe you could up the dose every other day? It would give your body time to adjust just a bit better? I have had no side effects like yours. Did you read the insert?
21 days-what dose is she aiming for? I do notice a reduction in my anxiety with Straterra-a major plus for me!
This is from the website-for Strattera-FYI

Continuous symptom improvements
While you are likely to notice improvements in ADHD symptoms by week 2, it may take up to a month to see the full therapeutic benefits of Strattera.Your system adjusts to Strattera gradually over the first month of taking it, can provide effective ADHD symptom management.
You could have a cold, allergy, or sinus infection too. Sinus problems are listed under the infrequent set of side effects. Did you have sinus problems before Strattera?
When my doctor started me on Strattera he told me that it can take 4-6 weeks to reach full effectivness. If you have only three weeks to study, you might want to consider talking to your doctor about taking a stim until after the exam and then switching to Strattera. I had several side effects from Strattera myself so I switched to Ritalin. I have read several posts here where people say that the side effects tend to subside after several weeks of use. I did get sluggish in the afternoon when I was taking it, and (I dont know if it was related to the med or not, probaly not) I came down with a very severe cold two days after I started it. If its working for you though, keep it up! Good luck on your exam!
