I live in a small town outside of Erie, called Girard. My husband has ADD. I have three daughters. Twins that are 22 and live on their own now (they both have ADD) and also an 8 year old. Her teacher doesn't see any ADD tendicies in her as of yet. Hard life at times, but it is better than it used to be.

Hello,

My name is Barb and I live in Montgmeryville, PA. I think my husband is ADHD but he will not get tested and thinks that it is not a problem in our relationship. He admits he is hyper. I'm not really sure if he is - all I know is that we have only been married a year and some days I can't take it. There is definitely something wrong but if he won't seek help I think I should probably seek help myself.

He is hard worker so I can't say that he is not ambitious but he is obsessed with TV and we have never had a conversation without him watching the TV. He doesn't listen well at all. I get so hurt because I feel as though what I have to say is unimportant because he won't listen for long.

I would love to hear from someone if they have any suggestions?

Sorry this was roll call and I'm babbling just having a bad day about my situation.

Thx for listening.
Barb

I'm from PA, and that is still my home of record, however, I now live in Vegas. I am stationed at Nellis AFB. I'm an erie native, and most of my family is still there, hence I consider myself more pennslvanian than anything else.

I live outside Philadelphia in Delaware County, quite close to Folcroft, btw. I'm 48 and for the last few weeks I've become convinced that my whole life so far has revolved around my ADD. I've got an appointment with an M.D. set for April 12. I don't know if I'll be looking for a therapist or a support group after that.

hi, my name is josh, i live in walnutport PA, just north of allentown.

i was recently, about a week ago, diagnosed with ADD, and am in the process of determining if there are any other conditions i have, or are they all related to the add. it felt great to read some of the posts here and see how close to me they are...but so far i have mde no improvements in untangling my mind or life.

when i was three i had a speech counselor because i did have patience to say words correctly.........i was not a bad child, i was the day dreamer, the underacheiver, was accepted into gifted classes twice in elementary, only to be kicked out within the first month. so go my life, never tried, always succeeded and threw it all away...............

i can't live being so passionately detached anymore.........raging in circles.....

sorry for the life story................i ramble when i type............

Hey Tina ~ in the event that you read this post after a year or so, I'm in Connellsville ~ just up the bike trail from you. Ever go to Phil's?

Dx'd in July and I guess ADD owns me too, but I'm comfy with that.

Hi,
I'm Mike from Central Bucks County near Doylestown, PA. I'm 44 and my 8 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD a year ago. My research has taught me that I have ADD also and I now feel SO liberated. I finally understand who I am and I can forgive myself for many things! :)

:( My name is Angela and I live in Williamsport Pa. I have recently been diagnosed with ADD and have been searching for local support Groups. THERE IS NOTHING! I am so surprised that this area doesn't have anything, they have support groups for every thing under the sun but not for ADD/ADHD. My Phsyc doctor wants me to find an accountability partner some one other than my husband but I can't seem to find people that want to be bothered. My family doesn't want to support me they would rather focus on my older brother and the only one that is sticking by my side is my husband and he has a hard time being there cause he works so much just to afford the therapy I need and the medicines I need to be on. What I need is a friend from Pa who lives close enough to me that either has been where i am at, or is going through what I am going through and wants to get together just to talk, plan activities, or just to sit and listen. If you would like to get together and you live near me drop me a line, I have two very energetic kids and one really loud small dog who thinks he owns the whole house so if you can put up with that than you can put up with anything.HTTTYS!

Hi, I'm Mike from Willow Grove (suburb of Philadelphia). I was diagnosed with inattentive ADHD three years ago, but I've had it for all 38 years of my life. I'm on medicaton for treatment, but I need some help adjusting to my "new brain". Also, I still have some symptoms and was hoping to find more effective ways of coping/dealing with being who I am.

HI
I live in cc Philly. I am distracted and somethings I don't do or finish so tasks are undone.
Sleep is about 5 hrs. I do things on impulsive buying, so need more control.
I see there is no support group for us in philly :(
Maybe we can get one going ? :)

Lower Merion, just outside Philly.

Got the big "aha" that explained my life when my son was diagnosed a few years ago. Both inattentive. Still figuring it out. Note to newbies: Don't expect a fix for this - only better understanding, self-acceptance and insight on how to cope.

Hi. I am from Pittsburgh, and was diagnosed with ADD about 6 months ago, after 2 years of depression treatment that didn't work. Been through two Dr's and 2 therapists and 5 meds, need an expert in the disease, but have not had luck just choosing someone from the phonebook as of yet. Anyone know of someone who specializes in the Pittsburgh area? Would greatly appreciate a recommendation.

Thank you all for this great forum

ADHD PTSD DAD
09-05-10, 09:20 PM
I was diagnosed with ADHD about twenty years ago! Now on top of that I also have PTSD due to the fact I was emotionally abused and physically attacked at work By a ruthless female boss! I am in the middle of a legal battle right now! It has cost me sooo much! The thing that gets me is that I am ex-military and have been in worse situations and prevailed! Yet this women has litterally destroyed my life! Even physically attacking me! My DR's all tell me that it was because it was completely out of my control! The analogy given to me was that it was simular to what they would do to pow! Every day take them outside blind fold them and say "today is the the day!! Point the the gun at thier head and go click, click, click! That was what she was doing to me every single *&^% day! Every moment of the day! Because I'm a really big guy no one believed me! Even just writing this down is bring it back ZI have to stop!! BUllying is no joke!!
