View Full Version : My homework is staring at me

This is more of a rant than anything else, but -- because of President's Day I had a three day weekend from work and planned to use it to get a ton of homework done.

That was, of course, until my period started, rendering me helpless and nonresponsive to Concerta's maximum "recommended" dose, 72 mg. Even my backup plan (Monster energy drink, seems to give me a boost when all else fails) does absolutely nothing. And I'm back to square one and so frustrated that this weekend has been a festival of lying on the couch and surfing dumb websites while my textbooks sit on a table across the room.

I tried yesterday, really *tried*, to read one chapter. I couldn't get past the first paragraph, and in turn I felt more depressed and useless and hoping that this wouldn't last into my workweek. WHY does this have to happen once a week every month? Don't get me wrong, Concerta is BEAUTIFUL for the other three weeks and I wouldn't trade it for anything. But being back to my old foggy, forgetful self is not encouraging. It still happens when I skip a period (by taking the blue birth control pills two months straight, as recommended by my gyno).

I want to cry. :(

selby, the fist thing you have to do it open the books. I know I have been having the same problem for the weekend too. I return back to college tomorrow and have a class, but we dont have to read anything but have 3 chapter due next week so I am starting them tonight.

I have to outline the chapter because she is a interactive teacher and we get into group most of the time. We have to outline so we have notes for out quizzes and final to study from.

try doint the work for the class at the same time on the weekends. eat lunch when you eat lunch at school. Try that .

Get thee to a gyn. You could have a premenstrual/menstrual disorder that could be treated. There are so many options these days compared to when I was your age. This is not ADD, your period makes things worse, to me it is the culprit.

Alas, I am not a doctor, just a female who suffered terribly until a hysterectomy-not your option . I hate to see you suffer.

Option: You may have to plan around this problem for a time. Can you take the BC that makes you have a period only 4 times a year?

Sorry you are going through this.

I remember those days. It was like the pages were hypnotising me to stay away from them. I swear that they would spend at least half an our out of focus to me until I'd come out of it.............

And go watch some TV :)

But that was a long time ago now...

Oh, Girl I did the same thing! AND I got my period. BUT I FORCED myself to write a paper. Only God knows how I did THAT. Don't be hard on yourself. I sit around looking at them darn books most of the time.

It's a month later and the same thing is happening (but my period already left..). Thanks for your replies. This totally sucks. :/ I need someone to come kick my butt and force me to do what I need to, because Concerta is seriously lacking!!
