Good information. I was excited to read this. then I found out it was only for the IR form which is ok if you can take it multaple times a day, but with my schedule I can only take it once in the morning or 2x a day, with one in the morning and one at night. Oh well, it's great news just the same. I just wish there as an XR generic form now...

This is great news! Thanks for posting about this.

I could not get your medscape link to work.

I really look forward to trying out the Teva generic when it becomes available.

Whaaa? I always found the TEVA Klonopin to be my favorite of all the generics. I guess we're all different.

Is that the klonopin generic brand that tastes strangely sugary?

I do not think the patent runs out on Focalin XR until around 2015.

The XR version has only been on the market for about a year or two at the most now.

Yup, I am ! I'm taking 1.25mg (half the 2.5 pill) 2x a day (focalin is strong for me for some reason). I have never used the brand Focalin IR tabs (i have used the brand XR, but XRs don't agree with me), so i have no other dexmethylphenidate IR to compare it to, but the generic works great for me. Unlike a lot of the Adderall generics, this one doesn't seem to cause bad side-effects. Very smooth. And my Rx of 60 a month costs just $5 !

Are you still getting the Teva generic??? It completely disappeared from the pharmacies in SoCal a few weeks ago, and now you can not get it. I briefly switched over to generic Adderall, but hated it. I'm now back on Focalin brand. My insurance will now cover it, but with a higher co-pay ($30)...which is fine. It's worth it!!

Yupp still Teva, i picked up 60 of the 2.5mgs on 8/11 without any problems.. so i dno't know if there's a shortage or not. maybe there is any my pharmacy just had some stock? i guess i'll find out next month.. and my mom has an extra bottle of the 2.5mg generics so if there is a shortage i'll have another month without having to pay more out-of-pocket (well my mom at least :P). The copay on the brand XR for me is $40, which is a lot compared to $5, but you're right, it definitely is worth it!! :D

Wow. I've been told by all the pharmacies in this area that it's no longer available. I wonder if your pharmacy still just had them in stock. Keep us posted. Although, my insurance finally approved brand. But the copay is double.

Oh, wow, sorry to hear that! Looking on the other threads on the focalin subform it seems like this seems to be the case everywhere i guess
Yea, my pharmacy probably just had stock left because i'm taking the 2.5mgs... i'm gonna venture to say that maybe the 2.5mg tabs are the least used in my town hence the leftovers? But i'll keep you posted! My next appt is on 9/1
