I read somewhere that there is a med. that will help lessen the elevated bp effects from Focalin. I suffer from high bp and add. I would hate to have to choose one treatment over the other.
Any information would be very much appreciated. I have just started taking Focalin and I actually feel like my old self again, for the first time in over ten years. I'm so excited!!!
ps. I'm a 42 year old woman, if that makes a difference. haha

I know clonidine can be taken for high blood pressure and can be taken with Focalin and other methylphenidate meds.

I take 100mg of atenolol with 45mg of dexedrine daily. I have no idea why you would have to make a decision.

I have no idea either. I need a new doctor.
Ask your doctor about Norvasc for your bloodpressure.
I'm going to start on Focalin XR tomorrow, and I was given Tenex (Guanfacine) for elevated BP that was caused from being on Strattera (that I get to stop tomorrow! Yay!!).
My Dr said that I can use Tenex with Focalin XR... Tenex is like Clonidine, but has less side effects and also helps with ADHD symptoms.

Hmm, not sure about Clonodine with Focalin. Just came across this after reading this post:
Serious adverse events have been reported in concomitant use with clonidine, although no causality for the combination has been established. The safety of using methylphenidate in combination with clonidine or other centrally-acting alpha-2-agonists has not been systematically evaluated.

I didn't have a good experience with Tenex. It didn't help my tics and it gave me a rash.
