What is the usual (standard) procedure for taking a couple of classes at another college and having them transfer to the college you are currently attending? I'm thinking of taking summer classes at another college (it'd be cheaper at the other college), and have them transfer back to mine...

They aren't tough classes either. They are 100/200 level cources that I'm thinking of taking. I've taken 300 level classes so I know I'll have a handle on the summer cources...

I believe you are called a transiet student meaning you going to take the classes you need at another school, but return to your school and need the credits transfer.

Many students do that here, they take classes at a juniour college because it icheaper and then go to there host college the next semster.

I looked into it a couple years ago, didn't end up doing it only because the classes I needed filled really quickly and they gave priority to their own students.

Talk to the registrar's office first and the head of the department of the classes you are planning to take.. if I recall correctly, I had to have the head of department sign a form that verified that the classes offered at the other college would fulfill the requirement at my school. I think there was also something else to fill out in the fall to verify that the classes were taken and to apply the credits toward my degree, but I didn't do that since I didn't end up taking the classes. Nothing too difficult, but get a head start on it now so you're not rushing at the last minute to get paperwork in and so you can enroll before the classes fill up.

My own experience is the Same as ADizzygirl...

============================

It is called a Letter of Permission ('LOP').
[Your schools' terminology for it may be different, of course...]

You have to take the copy of the Course Description of the course you want to take, into your home school. (e.g. Stats 100)

Your department's Prof (who teaches the same course at your home school), or Undergraduate Coordinator, will look it over and approve it.

For example, at my University, the Nursing School's Undergraduate Coordinator and Professor of Statistics 100 both reviewed, approved and signed, the "Letter of Permission" Form.

Usually, there is a fee for a Letter of Permission (LOP) form. (Mine was $40, iirc.)

Then you take that LOP Form to the school you are going to go register at as a Transfer Student...
