View Full Version : My Analogy

I have recently been diagnosed with ADD and generalised anxiety disorder and have been thinkiing alot about it. Ive come to the conclusion my brain is much like the OLD windows 98 computer and everyone else has the standard New windows xp brain.

Everybody else runs all the new software with 512gb ram and 120gig of memory where as i run much older software. My computer still has lots of load times for things to register and the occasional freeze up. Its full of little viruses which cause many problems thoughtout my harddrive.

The computer always makes mistakes and the user cant seem to be able to do much to stop it. It always spells words wrong and doesnt have spell check like most computers so users wonder why it cant be normal like other computers

Word doesnt run too well anymore and not many people understand it either...It gets confused easily. Its memory is shocking and files always seem to disapear especially the recent ones

There are important files all over the C drive but the user can never seem to find them as some of the are hidden

Starting next week my computer will be getting a daily upgrade but the computer technician said he isnt sure how some of the improvements might affect it and it might have a few sideaffects and there has even been a few cases where the computers have shut down with the upgrades

But atleast on the plus side there are a few little things that none of other computers have or will ever be able to get like streetfighter already installed and cool little screensavers that havent been around for years and i hope the upgrades wont get rid of them

i realise its a pretty **** comparison but i was bored....

I prefer to think of it as a we're a Unix system in a Microsoft world. We actually work better and fast but only for insiders.

Hi irelander welcome to the forums.

I see my analogy much differently. I have problems with my stimuli shut off valve. It seems to be stuck all the way open so every thing in my environment just floods right on into my brain. When I try to slow down the stimuli flow the valve simply closes shut preventing external stimuli from getting in.

I keep the valve greased with Adderall daily so I can have the stimuli shut off valve set to partially porous which allow some stimuli in while allowing me to filter the irrelevant parts out. It is easier on my brain and I don't get quite so wound up.

The same thing but different.
