I was recently diagnosed and my psy. suggested that I keep a day planner on me so that I can stay organized.

I have a PDA that was thinking about using to keep my to-do lists and calendar and what not but I am running into a silly problem. How do I carry the thing?

I goto school two nights a week so thats easy, just throw it in my book bag. But on the days that I dont have school I am not sure what to do with it. I would try just carrying it around but I know i would end up losing it, and my pockets arent big enough.

I thought about carrying a book bag but just for a PDA thats a big overkill.
I swear the things that I worry about.

Any suggestions on yo guys/gals do would be appreciated. Sorry no man purse here.http://addforums.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I carry mine with me all the time. I have a hard case that I keep it in that protects it without adding too much bulk. I put it in my shirt or pants pocket when I am at work or not wearing a jacket. It fits in there pretty well with out being uncomfortable. I have become so dependant on mine that I don't have to worry about forgetting it. The few times that I have left it at home I have felt like I left half my brain behind and I am forced to be retarded for the rest of the day. I am handicapped without it! LOL

What kind of PDA do you have? I might be able to suggest a good carrying case for it. There are also cases that you can clip to your belt. However, you do run the risk of having it stolen when it is on your belt or having it knocked off. There are also organizer cases or padfolios that are larger and can hold a note pad, credit cards, and other stuff you have to carry around. Let me know how I can help...

Maybe you could get a small bag and label the bag w/ PDA on it.

This way when you see the bag you know your PDA goes in there and you will know where it is. (small brown lunch bag size bags; nothing large)

Its an older sony clie' and it has the leather padded case (makes it too big). I would carry it in my pants/shorts but with my wallet (front right) and keys (front left) phone shirt pocket I have run out of places to put it. (I dont have to wear a jacket for work.

I thought about a small bag but I cant think of one that would be suitable.

I used to have a Clie. I loved it but it was a little bulky. Too bad Sony doesn't make them anymore. Would a fanny pack work? Or if you can't wear that around work you may want to look at a belt clip. Also, there are PDA cases that you can hang around your neck. Let Google be your friend and search the net. There is a lot of information out there.

I use a clip for my phone. I attatch the clip to my belt and my phone stays secure for the time I need it...

As a female it's normal for me to carry a purse around all the time. I never really thought about the fact that it's not as common for men to carry around bags. It sounds like you are a bit resistant to carrying a bag around too.

Have you looked into any accessories for your PDA. I'm sure they make something that would suit your needs.

As others have suggested I would suggest using case with a belt clip. I have a case for my iPod that has a belt clip and it works great! Although sometimes I don't feel it hanging there and freak out because I thought I lost it... haha

My dad has the same PDA (although I don't know about the leather case). He carries his breast pocket of his flannel shirts. Yes, he wears these to work. Have you considered those Docker's with the funky side pocket, like painters pants but inside out?

Thinking of cutting off the legs and sewing in zips - for that day we have in August every couple of decades - where we nearly get 'round to sweating.

I know - it'll intefere with my wi-fi - but heck - I keep reading that we're mighty antisocial beasts on these pages ...

No, we're not.

You lost me there... are you talking about a specific brand of pants that last forever? Some of have to look presentable at work. Pants with big, puffy, cargo pockets and legs that zip out are frowned upon. But if you know of the worlds best pants that will last forever I am all ears. I used to have a nice looking pair of Dockers that had discreet cargo pockets that were great for my PDA but Dockers don't make them anymore.

I guess I will just use a bookbag, can use it to carry my lunch to work also.
Yea no cargo pants at work for me execpt on friday. For me the rest of the week its kahkis and button up shirts.

Thanks for the help guys.
Also though about getting a PDA phone but they are a little spendy.

a specific brand of pants that last forever?
Not a specific brand - just strong cotton
forever hopefully - can vouch for only a few years thus far
might do a pant diary somewhere on the forum if you like
you'd be amazed - a little dye makes the pants look mighty fine
presentable - i like to think so - :-)
but maybe not
'ps'
pants mean underpants here and I'm enjoying the duality

I haven't heard of 'Dockers' as a brand - thought they were a style.

wow! forgot.

No dress code.

We've a heapin' helpin' of bare-footed weirdos pretty much everywhere I've been too.

Thanks for the clarification, SB. Dockers are made by Levi's and are basically the American staple for men's khaki pants. "Docker's" has become a household name so we can be wearing any brand but if they are khaki colored we call them "Dockers". I guess it is an American thing...

That is a Murphy's law of PDA. It could be worse... you could have forgotten to sync it for 3 months and then had it conk out and lose all the data. That happened to me once. Uuuuggg!!!

It would be so cool if I could carry around a bag full my most "neato stuff" everywhere I go(and no,breifcases and backbacks don't count! You don't see guys going out to eat,or to the movies,or wherever with either of these).

I wear cargo shorts to work (and most of the time) and just slip it into one of the lower side pockets of my shorts. When I convinced my mate to get one, he bought a case that he also used as his wallet. He never pocketed it, just carried it around. But 'cause it was his wallet he had to have it with him. Kind of made sense to me.

If your looking for suggestions, I love my palm TX. I didn't want a phone/pda. Best thing is that the memory dosen't wipe when it runs flat (phew). And it makes a good media player too. Just my 2c worth.

I am going to be borrowing a Clie NV70 from a friend of mine until I decide on what one to get and when i get the money. Right now I gotta find a fork for my mountain bike but thats anohter story.

The idea of a purse is great too bad men cant carry them and still be looked upon as normal.

Oxford even has a place on the river where academics can get naked and talk clever stuff.

Then where does one keep their PDA = so sorry couldn’t resist. . . .clothing optional in place up north polar bear country . . . . .yes the meds are now gone so naked is not a topic I should expound upon just now. . . .must be an example {of what?? = oops I forgot}

Have you heard of some thing called a European bag = man purse.

So don’t be envious be a trend setter. . . men are begining to discover women knew what they were doing all along. Some men carry brief case European bag softer more flexible than brief case. . . another optionis a back pack – some thing manly of coarse.

I actually have been looking at bags. The "man purses" (gadget bag sounds better) that I have been able to find actually just look like small messenger bags which is ok. But then the logistics of carrying one while I am at school with a book bag. I thought about swapping stuff between bags but that would leave me to forget and loose stuff. I need to find one small enough that I can just throw into my book bag.

Jerry (http://imdb.com/name/nm0000632/): Your back hurts because of your wallet. It's huge.
George Costanza (http://imdb.com/name/nm0004517/): This isn't just my wallet. It's an organizer, a memory and an old friend.
Jerry (http://imdb.com/name/nm0000632/): Well, your friend is morbidly obese.
George Costanza (http://imdb.com/name/nm0004517/): Well, at least I don't carry a purse.
Jerry (http://imdb.com/name/nm0000632/): It's not a purse, it's European.

They have them here.
All the men (that I see) need is a pair of high heels, a wig, and a nice dress.
Then they can work the corner at night. :D
If you are European and you have one, that's fine.
But where I live is the South, full of pickup trucks, Lynard Skynard CD's, chewin tobacco, and no men carrying purses!
So when we see one, it is a bit odd, no matter how dignified the person seems to be.

i went out and bought an inexpensive pda while unemployed(well it was over 70 so it was not so inexpensive to my wife.:eyebrow: ) my problem is that the screen is so hard to read and the light only stays on for a very short time. this makes it impossible for me to use. I want a new one that is more user friendly any suggestions. thanks.

I live in winder (a little country town about an hour out of atlanta) but since it is growing and many people are moving here its not as country as it used to be. I was one of about 4 or 5 asian students that gradutated in my class of 400ish. But that was 10 years ago.

I will probably end up with a map bag (I will put a map in it to keep it as such:D).

As for the brightness of the screen, look in the settings you should be able to extend the time for the light to stay on. I know mine stays on as long as im doing things and after 15 seconds of no activity the backlight shuts off and then after 2 minutes the whole thing turns off.

Seinfeild isn’t about any thing important so I can not really relate to it enough to pay attention to what those characters are carrying on about Honestly I could not say.

Then you should know that is why cowboys wear such large hats = to carry their PDAs to the "clothing optional" beach. . :p {did I type that out loud}

.. If you get any further south than I am you must learn to speak a Spanish {tex-mex to be exact} so south I am pretty famular with. When not at the "clothing optional" beach {and we actually have one in the Austin area= hippy hollow) then a cowboy would carry his PDA in his saddle bag So dude if you live down south your European bag must be made of leather and resemble a saddle bag.

OKay that was easy. .. . . . :D
