There has been a lot of talk about the Fiengold diet, and red dye, and gluten, etc., lately. There was also talk of the book "Is this your child" .

So, I looked it up on Amazon, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was written by an MD. Most Dr's are kind of skeptical about allergies. I am skeptical too. Anyway, the first review of this book on amazon mentioned blood allergy testing by "Immuno Labs". There are some clinical papers written by MD's on their site where they talk about the problems of skin tests, delayed allergy reactions, etc. Sounds interesting, and not some long term drawn out process.

In short, Anyone try this?

Allergy blood tests can be done at just about any lab. My mom has worked in a hospital lab for 28 years and runs allergian panels regularly. You just have to ask your doctor.

As for the Fiengold diet, it may be written by an MD, but it's not the miracle he claims it is. One of my very close friends is severely allergic to gluten (Celiac disease) but following his diet didn't change anything at all. (And she has tried every diet out there) In fact she said it was so bland and unfulfilling, she broke it almost constantly. As a result, she really started looking into how food affects us. She said that the best thing to do is learn good nutrition, listen to your body and take extra steps for specific allergies if they're there. No "fad" diet or nutrition trend can work miracles. Yes, a healthy diet can have a signigicant improvement on your life, but it can't change genetics.
