Just suppose for a movement started to promote ADD/LD Pride, Equal Rights, Tolerance and Understanding for both adults and children at school, the workplace, and anywhere else, what would you put in theADD/LD Bill of Rights? What other ideas do you have for promoting understanding and equality?

Share you ideas here, who knows, maybe we can change the world, one idea at a time.

"ADD PRIDE!"

Some things are allready being done, http://www.drugnewswire.com/12903/
But, I do think that ADD is increadabley Misunderstood....

I can't speak about ADD at school without being cutdown for it.

Classics:

1) "Stop whineing, try harder, and do your work"
2) "Comeon, tell me why you arn't doing you work, because of add? is that whats stopping you? Stop being lazy"
3) "Everyone has ADD, just a bunch of whiney brats who don't want to do thier work"
4) "You have add?, what, you can still do your work, I don't see anything stoping you"

Teachers, and schools really need to be re-educated on ADD....

Although it is the neurotypical society that I think is screwed this looks like a good avenue.

I think we should no longer have to endure a lying media that encourages stigmas or dismisses real difference that create problems.

Our problems should be acknowledged as equally legit blaming a conditions doesn’t erase the problem.

If we are expected to modify our behavior NTer should be willing to meat us half way . {If they refuse we would like to exercise the right to slap them with a wet smoked fish or open tell them the first thing that pops into our minds without legal repercussions}

We would like the right not to have bad neurotypical behavior blamed upon our condition. If we can not use our condition as an excuse no one should be able to use our conditions as an excuse for their bad behavior either

We should insist the laws preventing discrimination against us being executed as fully and as seriously as laws that prevent discrimination against any other minority group. . .

Vhan, many teachers have ADD and some are being discriminated against. Their fight for their rights under the ADA is a fight for your rights and future in the workplace too.

There are teachers who want to change the world!

I only look normal!

Except when my hands are in the dye pot and multi shades of colors! Or I am laying yards of fabric on the lawn and splashing dye all over, or hanging all my skeins of hand-dyed yarn on the fence to dry. Then, I don't look normal!

Inside, I am wonderful!

Teachers, and schools really need to be re-educated on ADD....Quite some time ago,I decided that whenever I get around to taking over the world, and having myself crowned "His highly exulted, most unholy, extremely bit<hin, supreme dark overlord of the known universe, and then some",that my first infernal decree would be to have-

Anyone remotely affiliated with the education system is to have extensive education in understanding and indentifying learning disabilities, with extreme preferential prejudice in favor of ADD/ADHD,before they may be eligible for employment within the educational establishment!

So let it be written!

So let it be done!

LOL - one word "executed" and away the mind goes. . . weeeeeeeee

The disability prejustice needs to be ended. . . especially in the work place.

Nothing is more dysfunctional than having zero flexibility, yet rigidness is way to common and accepted.

I fail to understand why diversity is so feared, why isn't hostility toward those who are different seen as the disorder it truly is. ADD can never nor will it ever be capible of the mass destruction that diversity fear has caused. If tolerance {while maintaing individual responsibility} became the expected norm so many more people could function happily thus more productivity could occur with a lot less conflict.

I know the fact I see these things and others do not is what makes me different. I do not treat others as stupid because what is obvious to me is hidden to others who are "NT" How can some one be considered normal and functioning yet be unable to comprehend the necessity of diversity thus being intolerant of those who are not like they are. . . I am considered disfunctional yet I can do it naturally. Some thing went way wrong some where.

Most importantly is what can be done to change the perspective on this lack of flexibility in our society? This diversity intolernace isn’t just our life but it involves the legacy we leave for those who are to come in our future.
