I am so bored! I am bored with school, I am bored with my addictive games, tv, life, jobs, doing nothing and bored with doing anything.
I am in college.. finished half a year, and , I am going crazy. It all started with extreme low motivation and lack of ambitition and warped into a hate for the program I am taking. I am so bored of it that I dont even want to finish it.
Except that I want to finish it only because I have never been able to finish anything. I was really hoping Adderall would help me get back on track... no such luck.
How do you force yourself to do something you hate and feel overwhelmed and bored by? Does boredom seem to ruin anyone elses lives.. as much as it is mine at the moment? I dont know what I am going to do. :(

If you don't like the current program that you are in, it may be advisable to change it. I know I added Computer Science after learning such a minor/major exists. If you want to continue your current field you can also minor in something you enjoy (like computers for example). I am majoring in psychology and love it, and I added a computer science minor so I can learn computers and use that knoledge towards a degree... Best of luck with whatever you decide to do...

I SO know about the boredom thing! I found a lot of my reason for it was that I was in the wrong subject. I went into accounting well that is I sort of "fell" into it. I had wanted to be a psychologist forever and let people talk me out of it. So I went the accounting route because I had a sort of talent for it. But my REAL love was psychology. So.....a long time later, I finally went back to get my degree in counseling. I am LOVING it and can't believe the difference. I still get bored with most anything else along with the classes that don't really deal with it but I am much happier!
Follow your bliss ....
Do you know what it is? If you could do or be *anything* at all, what would you choose? Use that as inspiration.
I absolutely understand the desire to actually finish something, but there is no point to finishing something you hate ... then you'll be on track to spend your working life in misery. Find what you love.
good luck...

Thanks for the replies. I was kinda talked into doing something and I thought what I was into could be that because I had some interest in it.
Anyways, turns out I hate it now... and I am on my way to failing it. I am so behind that I will fail for sure at least 2 of my classes. I am at the point where I really dont even care. I am too far away to finish it... and too much into it to give it up.
I am getting older.. and running out of options.. and now, I am terrified to start ANYTHING, afraid I will never finish anything I do.
Sigh. :(

Sigh. :(I don't know how old you are but I am 47 now and for so many years I was the exact same way, never finished ANYTHING. I had so many people tell me I never did that I BELIEVED I never would! Then I went to the police academy when I was 30 just for the heck of it, to prove something to myself I guess. Anyway, it was 4 months and though I wanted to quit several times I didn't (guess because I knew I only had to stick with it four months and I figured I could stand anything for that long LOL. Since then I can't tell you how it has changed me. I ended up getting out of police work 2 years later but at least I FINISHED something and I knew I could DO it now! Two years ago I decided to go into counseling and get my Bachelors degree at night. Before I started, I promised myself that NO MATTER WHAT THERE QUITTING WAS NOT AN OPTION. I graduate in less than five months! It is never too late! But get into something you enjoy. Grab it and GO! Make your passion your career and the motivation and money (if that matters) will come! It took me a while but if I hadn't done it I would be 47 and still stuck where I had been.
Wow...I know how you feel, but take heart ...
I couldn't finish high school :GED at 17
Couldn't finish college the first time....second time...third time...fourth was the charm (took 10 years from GED to B.A.) Of course I changed my major 5 times during these years, as well.
Jumped careers several times after B.A. ... lost a couple of jobs because of disorganization (though they loved my work in all other ways)
Finally decided to follow my bliss .... I'd wanted to go to law school since I was about 10 ... enrolled at 33.
Here's where it gets good: I finished law school in the 3 years I was supposed to! Now, I probably could've done better than I did (top 25%) had I been treated for my ADHD back then, but still ... I *loved* it ... so I thrived.
It is possible to be successful. You have many years ahead to discover and pursue your interests. Please don't give up.
