So the good news: Ladies, if you are looking for a form of birth control that works well with ADD, then Nuvaring might be for you! I LOVE the ring. I only have to remember about it twice a month (pills were a disaster obviously), and there are hardly any side effects.

Which brings me to the complications: I think that the birth control somehow increases the effect of adderall. I just started adderall this month, and this week i took out the ring to have my period. All of a sudden, my adderall wasn't working anymore.

Has anyone had any experience with stimulants and birth control? Is this in my head, or is the adderall actually less effective without the birth control?

I take immediate release 15mg in the morning. Now on my period I've uped it to 20, then 25mg, causing me to have some unpleasant adderall side effects (fever, chest pain).

Help me please, if you have any experience similar to this!

Thanks in advance:)

Well . . . estrogen tends to help with such mental abilities as memory, so it stands to reason that the removal of an estrogen-producing chemical from your body would result in decreased mental efficiency and make your meds seem less effective.

Fun, huh??

Could that be why I feel like I'm having probs w. my adderall? I just started taking b.c. 2 months ago and I feel liek things have gotten worse. Shoul dI maybe talk to my doctor about lowering my dosage. Also, I definately feel more tired/depressed than normal and I myself had attributed it to the fact that I'm on the placebo since sun.

I take a low-dose birth control pill called mircette. I haven't noticed birth control having any effect on adderall xr or vice versa during the placebo weeks.
