Has anyone tried Neuro Biofeedback? This is a system where the individual wears electrodes (not invasive) on their head. Their brain waves are received by a computer which runs software that allows the individual to control a game using only their brain waves. The intent is to encourage the more attentive state and discourage the inattentive state.
I am brand new to this forum. My son is currently scheduled to begin treatment this month. We have tried meds with too many side effects to continue. I'm also looking into the Learning Breakthrough system. HAs anyone here tried this or the Dore system?
Thanks in advance.

I desperately WANT to try this, but it's not available in my area.
Healing ADD by Dr. Amen has some information on the procudure.

I went to the drake institute to check it out, and the premise sounds reasonable, that you can train the brain to stay in the "balanced" state that will allow you to function better, like riding a bike.
When you first started learning to ride a bike, you'd wobble from side to side, feeling your good balance point in the middle. The bioneural-feedback system is much the same in that it monitors the (I think it was alpha anyway) alpha waves (less frequent in ADDers) and shows you when you're producing them so that in theory anyway, you can train your brain to be that way all the time.
I didn't do it because it cost $4000 which I don't have, and because I figured I could just buy a biofeedback unit and do the same thing for myself. Not so. The ones that you can buy without having a license for about $100+ only detect skin moisture and pulse, stuff like that, not brainwaves.
I can't speak to how effective the treatment is, though there are testimonials of good results. But then, every product has those, so...
I've heard of people who have improved tremendously with it, and people for whom it does nothing. I guess it's one of those "your mileage may vary" situations

My son went for approximately 20 visits, each 30 minutes in length, twice per week. It exhausted him. There were different "protocols" and different areas of the brain that could be focused on. We never hit on anything that seemed to have a real result, in fact, his grades in school were the worst ever during the time he was doing the treatments. It's impossible to know if there is any correlation between the treatments and his grades, but we discontinued because it took an hour and a half out of his day (travel time being an hour,) and he lost more study time due to his post-treatment fatigue.
I wish I could say something more positive about our personal experience. Our psycholgist, who I trust, was disappointed. He generally does see improvements.

Can you email some information regarding this treatment (who does it, where they are located, etc.)?
Thanks!
I just checked, there is a device you can get for $1,800 with software & some phone support. See this thread for details:
