View Full Version : What's your latest 'ADD moment?'
Michiko74 03-09-07, 12:42 AM Anyone have any good ones lately? You know, those moments you catch yourself kind of frustrated, kind of laughing, maybe annoyed... oh yes, those "precious" ADD moments we all occasionally have.
Today I'm talking with a teacher, and I swear I totally got something he said the wrong way   I found myself going "wait, I don't remember saying that.." and "no, that's not what I meant!"
And you know you have ADD when.. you're the only person in your group that does something completely different from everyone else.
You?
I'm sorry, you were saying..?
;)
well, when I finished my hectic 12-hr nightshift of nursing the other day, I made a couple of attempts to punch out by swiping my car key thru the timeclock, instead of my badge. In front of the pulmonologist whose patient I was caring for that night. Very confidence-inspiring.
Buttercup 03-09-07, 02:24 PM I put my purse in the refrigerator.
Just put me out of my misery.
spacedout 03-10-07, 02:00 PM I poured a cup of soda for my friend, then forgot why I pored the soda and started drinking it. He sat there and watched the whole thing. The worst part is, I don't even like soda.
After I drank about half of it, he politely asked for a glass of soda, as if the whole thing had not happened. Haha.
TabbyKat 03-11-07, 09:42 AM Well, at home...We have been sitting around sweating because I keep forgetting to call the repair guys. My husband finally called them and they will be here monday or tuesday. Why did I forget? Because the sound of the broken fan blade is so darned distracting!:eyebrow:
Then at work, around the same time our AC went down...I work as a maid in a hotel. I called my supervisor to come open a door for me. She came WALKING up five flights just to open it. I went in, cleaned the room, and left. Went up three more flights to do my next room, and realised I had left all my cleaning supplies in the bathroom of the last room! You guessed it. Supervisor had to come back and open the door so I could get them out!
Sometimes it is hard for me to believe that these things are a part of my day-to-day, not once in a while like they should be...:faint:
casinowife 03-14-07, 12:33 AM I was watching the news with my husband when the weather part came on and they were showing the pattern of something called a jet stream and I asked my husband why the path an airplane takes effects the weather like that. He said please don't ever tell anyone you said that! LOL...Maybe that was more of a blonde moment than an ADD one now that I think about it.
Angela1976 03-14-07, 01:35 PM All those sound familliar but I guess the worst lately was circling the block 5 times before realizing where I was going or what I was doing. The person with me was laughing so hard by the 3rd time I past the turn that he couldn't tell me about the others.
Desert Dweller 03-14-07, 02:45 PM Today:
I got in the shower put shampoo in my hand and started washing my hair.....I hadn't even wet my hair yet!
On my way to work taking to DH on cell answered call waiting finshed call and fogot DH was on the phone. He sent a text to me 20 mins later are you ok? I felt like such an a-s-s that I told him oh you hung up so I figured you had to go.
And the best ADD moment of today is I went to work with my shirt on backwards!
amiegrace 03-14-07, 05:25 PM The other day I was making plans to see a friend who is moving soon. I mentioned that my daughter was napping and we made plans to meet that same afternoon at 2 p. m. We then talked about a lot of other stuff. Then she said, so I'll see you later!
I said, well, let me get my calendar so I can write it down, you know how forgetful I am. She said, Amie, it's only in a few hours.
In the back of my mind I'd been planning on seeing her in a few days, not that same afternoon, and I had repeated to myself, several times, don't forget to write it on my calendar -- so the whole part about meeting her that afternoon got completely lost.
Mortifying.
justhope 03-14-07, 05:48 PM Today at work....I was training a new supervisor...and I couldn't remember how to find all the sections I needed to show her...I couldn't spell and I told her look let's go take a break...while I go in my purse and see if I left my brain in there :faint:
Keep in mind..I have worked there for 7 1/2 years...Geez I really do know what I am doing????? :eyebrow:
kinddog 03-14-07, 06:59 PM Came out of the supermarket and couldn't remember where I'd parked the car. When I eventually found it I realised my key must be broken as it wouldn't unlock...tried it a dozen times. Then I found the problem...it wasn't the key that was broken, just that it wasn't my car :faint: :faint: :faint:
It was the same make a model though...arghhh. I'm having one of those really bad days where I shouldn't be let out.
Came out of the supermarket and couldn't remember where I'd parked the car. When I eventually found it I realised my key must be broken as it wouldn't unlock...I had the bag boy with me to help load the car and I couldn't remember where it was, I didn't see it at all in the parking lot. It turns out I forgot I drove my husbands car to the grocery store.:o The guy just stared at me like I was an idiot.
...and speaking of showers, have you ever shaved your legs twice before you realized you had already shaved them? Makes for really smooth legs!:D
casinowife 03-15-07, 01:45 AM My truck battery was dead so my husband jumped it and told me to leave it running for a few minutes. He even said "Now don't go back in the house and start doing something else and forget to shut it off". I said please stop treating me like I'm stupid, I won't forget. He and my son left and went to run some errands. They come home 3 hours later and find my truck is still running!! He was not very happy with me.
I had bought some shampoo that we needed as we were all out,let me tell you we NEVER run out i always buy stock piles. I go to the store and run in just for that, and on my way out the door i just had too use the girls room. Well ok cool, went to the girls room and hurried up cause i had to get home for idol, get home and watch idol, and then go get my pj's and go hop in the shower, wet my hair and no darn shampoo. I knew i jsut went and bought it and got out of the shower, went to the kitchen look around gor it EVERYWHERE!!!! Cant find it ANYWHERE!!! Well of course not,it was on the bathroom sink at walmert where i had just went too get it at,let me tell u,i had to drive 15 miles each way too go get that shampoo to come home without it,ughhhhhhhhhhhh.
dichotomy 03-15-07, 06:14 PM Two nights ago I was out with a friend, and as I we were about to head home, I verbally reminded myself that my car was at the far end of the parking lot. "Oh, you remebered this time!" he said, surprised. When I got to the car, though, I couldn't get it unlocked. I put the key in a pulled it out several times, and tried turning it both directions, but it wouldn't work. In exasperation, I leaned against the car and look into the distance - and spotted my car two rows away.I had been trying to unlock the wrong one! And it wasn't even the same model! My friend couldn't believe that I had made this mistake; he insisted that I had done it as a joke.
I went down to get my mail today opened the box and had a letter with no address on it. i tried to mail a check without an address as to where it needs to go!
How is that for ADD??
MeGgHeAd 03-16-07, 04:39 AM Glancing around the room I see two bags of groceries on the floor which I now realize have been sitting there for about 5 hours... some of the items have already been put away (the Milk, ~phew~), but the bags are still sitting there, partially unpacked. One of the items left behind is now open.... I was hungry. I carried what I ate back to the kitchen and left the bags there.
spacedout 03-16-07, 09:14 PM This didn't happen today, but I had taken an exam a few months ago, and i was sitting at home about an hour after the exam and I realized that I had taken the exam home with me!! Fortunately, when I rushed back to give it to the exam coordinator guy, he trusted me that I hadn't cheated. That's some real trust, I tell you.
Howzabout the several times, every single worknight, that I go to the supply room for.... for.... why did I go to the supply room, again? Or if I happen to remember why I went, I will attempt to check out medications from the supply system that logs out bandages and IV fluids, or to get bandages and such from the medication system, which are, unfortunately for me, kept in the same room. Or maybe it's fortunate; it's a little easier to cover for myself when I'm having an ADD moment, at least I'm in the right room.
I do that too Piglet.
Thank God it's only supplies though! LOL
I still get it doing the Fleet, when I'm supposed to be taking which car(??) to the shop for what service(???).
That's why I have post it notes all over my desk.
I can write things down as people tell me.
My job is like having 1/2 of the 95 people asking me to get something at the store.
Each has a list of things, and I have to remember what they are.
I keep it all together, somehow...
gstien, that's impressive. I only have maybe two or three patients most nights to keep straight; keeping al that straight, you've got it goin' on, my friend! Kudos!
Thanks...
I would like to thank my Father for the ADD, which came from my Grandfather.
I would also like to thank my sponsor, Folgers, who without them, none of this would be possible. :D
Also a mind that runs at least 100mph on any given day.
My wife's mind btw runs at about 55mph (what a prude, always doing the speed limit).
