I just found out that when I was 13 a doctor suggested that I might have aspegers syndrome. I think that she may have been right. I have taken every test in the book multiple times and know all the correct answers to the questions. Making it hard to diagnose me. How am I supposed to get a correct diagnosis? with the diagnosis of pdd-nos I am considered non-disabled and cant get help from the state. I just dont know what to do. I have a 3 year old daughter and dont know how we will be able survive if something happens to my mom. I'm not trying to get money just medical help and job training so I can provide for my family.

PDD-NOS =Pervasive Developmental Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified is vague.

Asperger Syndrome is a more specific diagnosis. Would a more specific diagnosis get you the support you need?

Having gone through the system myself I understand what you are going through. I'm surpised a dx like Pdd-Nos doesn't get you govt. aid. Have you ever applied for medicaid? If you collect SSD or SSI you do have a shot at getting that. Make sure you have documentation of your disability before applying because they will want to see it. Best of luck.

this is totally me, I'm 27 years old now, and it was pretty much to late for me to get help from the government until the last couple years, as aspergers really wasnt noticed before 10 years ago. Best thing I can say is talk to A nerologist and phsycologist about aspergers, also if you were in school, check and see if they keep IEP records for you. cause this helped me get aid from the government. after going though 6 months of rejections from the government saying nothing was wrong with me. Thats until I got my IEP records from school and even talked to a nerologist/phsycologist. best thing to do is talk to A nerologist, and provide them with any medical information and the IEP records, all medications you took in your past. usually if you see the right person they will ask you if you have experienced symptoms such as sounds, voices, or being sensitive to the senses. so they can use it for your benefit.
