Some try to capture happiness which is like trying to hang onto sun beams. I am not all giggles and grins and I have my share of struggles but I find happiness in the small things that present them selves in my every day life. . . . if there is a true secret to happiness then it would have to be hidden some where in plane view.

The topic is really a reminder that happiness isn't in the big things like lottery winnings, expensive gift or even great abilities. Smiles are a happy sign and the chances to do so are every where.


Things that made me smile today . . . .

Watching Gary chase our cat through the house with a slipper. . .{he left an open can of tuna on a counter = well what would any self respecting cat do?}

The rain that came down so I could get off work early today . . . .and watered my garden so I did not have to.


The excited wag of my dogs tail when I take a moment to appreciate her presence with a head scratch . . . .


Trees with pink flowers I have three. . . . .


I had a chance to be a true friend and took it. . . .

Chances to smile are every where all we need to do to find happiness is learn to look at those things which are hidden in plane sight every day .

My 5 year old daughter got a thank you note from a girl she gave a birthday present to in her kindergarten class . She marveled at the card and read it over and over.Then she wrote the little girl a letter that said:
"Dear Skylar thank you for being a freind.PS Thank you for the thank you."

She did it all on her own.Sweet moment.:)

My day has aspirated so my smile moment will have to be knowing where the Ohio regional forums were so I could show tracekids where it was thus being productive with out discovering another leak under the sink, or tick on the dog, or a cup of mold. . . ..

Well I kind of had to smile when Gary came home with half a mud mustache. . . he looked like a kid who had been making mud pies.

Things that made me smile today..... was when me and my 6yr old walked to school this morning and he told me, "hey mum you've got asthma, adhd and pregnant!!" i thought yes what a lovely combination lol :)

I cracked up this morning when I saw my half asleep face and wild bedhead in the mirror lol :)

I smiled :) when I walked outside today and realized I didn't need my coat for the for the first time since..ummm December, when I opened all of my windows, and my kids went out to play not having to wear snow gear! :eyebrow:

I smiled when after reading a book, I am not lazy, crazy or stupid? Turns out I am not...thank you everyone! :) and realizing I was right!!

I smiled when I finally made my computer room look like a "real"room instead of a really big storage shed. . . . .

I smiled when I hung my kids picture above my computer desk and got the smoke {fire place }smell out of the room.

I read an article about dyslexia brain imagining, and found out I am not a wacko. My brain is supposed to work differently. . . .the difference is what allows me to be a compentent reader despite my dyslexia and being ADHD probably allowed me to remain a high functioning dyslexic.

I smiled early this morning when Highfunctoning read one of my post under the meta-mind thread in the scientific area. . . and responded . It is soo nice when my ideas are heard and understood, it is a huge bonus when I get a response that is direct and meaningful.

I smiled when I saw my sister's user name in green. . . . .

I have been having a day that I would like to forget.............VERY stressful. But it was very touching and made me smile when I received 2 private messages from members that they thanked me and gave me compliments.

I smiled tonight when my little girl,whom is 9 years old and struggles really bad in math,looked up at me after doing her math assignment and said i liked this one mommy. Let me remind you that everynight when we do math homework,she cries cause it is so hard for her.That made my day today!!!!

I smiled when my adult daughter said she liked talking to me. Sounds silly I know but a lot of adult daughters do not like talking to their parents.

I smiled when I came in to work this morning...realized my team hit our monthly goal/budget! And I am 1500 richer come next payday! WAHOOOOOO!

I smiled when I had to walk to work this morning because the car wasn't working, and I saw bright yellow forsythia blossoms.
Then I smiled when I had to walk to work this evening because my daughter needed the car to go to the dentist, and I saw magnolia buds.

I smiled in thinking back at those little magical moments that brought warmth to my heart and a smile to my face.

I get stuck in tunnel vision too many a time and don't stop to look at and appreciate the little things i.e., the blooming flowers, the bee's collecting whatever it is they collect, the ants coming out and starting their daily chores, and the butterflies flying effortlessly seemingly w/o a care in the world.

I have not stopped to think about, appreciate, and smile about the blessings that surround me... grand daughter, daughters, friends... and the fact that I have a job to complain about! Of course, that last one on my list is a cynical smile...

I can't stop smiling thinking about Max the puppy that we are going to see tonight and hoping to adopt!!!!!

Bad day today....but the one thing that made me smile...or rather the one person who made me smile today...is my buddy moderator...LARS! :p

My ENT made me smile! Finding out I have an ear/sinus infection-my problems are not caused by methylphenidate. Relief-someone who listened and took a real medical history!! Ear-Nose-Throat doc.

Funny how even a prescription can make you smile! And a CAT scan Friday-We will find out what is going on-I will not have to suffer endlessly-That makes me smile alot!

Now if I could only get a refund from the doc I saw yesterday.

You folks on this forum make me smile and laugh nearly every day. My ears are better-even post surgery. I don't feel like crapola today. Amazing what removing middle ear fluid can do for one's outlook on life. I feel really happy for the first time in a long time-I am not miserably sick with headaches and facial pain. Just have to finish healing now.

VI I am glad you are feeling so much better. Ill bet it does wonders for your sence of balance also.

today I was on an van ride with my consumers and i had them waving at cars and people as we drove by them. the way they laughed and cheered when someone smiled back really made me smile.

I made a small thank you gift for friend tonight. It made me smile to remember her kindness in a dark time. I hope she smiles when she reads my note and realizes how much her friendship means to me.

I smiled very very big yesterday when i got a call from my son inviting my wife and i over for supper. we had speggitti and garlic bread. :)

We moved into our house last November. In that time, I've done a ton of work in the backyard, installing a pond, planting, and laying out slate patios and walkways. It's gorgeous.

However, the double pane windows were 35 years old, and the seals had been broken for so long that they were nearly opaque. The worst one was the kitchen window that looks out onto the pond.

Wednesday, a window guy came in and replaced every single window with new, clean, transparent double panes.

For the last two days, I find myself looking out that kitchen window and seeing the pond and waterfall, and all my plants sending up new growth. This starts my day with such a smile, you couldn't even imagine. Yay!

I smiled when I read that picture girl had solved her problems and they weren't medication-related. :)

What makes me smile at the moment is that we finally got a serious offer on our house from really cool, nice and flexible people, who seem to be really motivated to buy our house and are not scared by the fact that some of our electrical wiring is made of alluminum... :):):)

Oh... and seeing 21 carpenter ants gorging themselves on the few drops of "Ant-B-Gone" I put behind my food processor just for them (so that my cats don't poison themselves).

Just to think that in 7 days, those ants will probably be gone from our house makes me grin like you cannot believe!

Waking up to a whole new day...Sun out...depression lifted..and a quiet teenager who promptly got up and went to school ! That always makes me smile! :D

I'm all fuzzy inside... and outside, because I'm a Kittie!

My daughter's math teacher called me today and we worked out a solution to a problem she's having on a group project. What a nice lady, and smart and compassionate. I'm glad my daughter has her class.

Getting up and making it to work another day! :)

Getting the freon like stuff to charge my auto air conditioner, finding out I still have the hose and stuff so I didn't have to buy that which made me smile. Oh and it rained last night so I was off today. I had a change to do several things I had not yet had time to do. . . . .going to the craft store and spending under $25.00. That made me smile . . . . see I do have some control.

While cleaning the pond last night, I found a frog! We have a frog! It sounds dumb to get all excited about something like that, but I think it's so cool that it went to all that trouble of getting past fences and dogs to pick our little corner of the world.

I would be excited too if I had a pond, and a frog in it. Imaging the wonderful frog singing you'll get next year!

This morning, what made me smile was to watch my dog follow my Roomba around and try to play with it like it's a cat or a toy. But he soon realized the Roomba was not so friendly when it turned around and started rolling towards him. It was fun to watch the interaction between my dog and a robot. It felt like real-life Star Wars for a few minutes! lol

Nature abhors a vacuum, but not as much as the dog does.

Passing my education class I was failing. Got a C.

Walking over 5 miles today with my trekking poles! Watch out world, I am getting in shape and building muscle! Yee haw! And........ the guy at GNC couldn't believe I could possibly be married 29 years-said I didn't look it, and some guys took a cell phone pic of me walking to day-but in my boonie hat and wearing a full pack, I really ain't that much to look at. Will have to post a picture of the new athletic me soon! :D

Actually getting the 123a {air conditioner juice} into my automobile air conditioner. . . .I smiled when nothing went KABOOM . . . . the best part of the whole experience was it worked I have air conditioning in my car YEAH!!!!

Being surprised by a black cow at work today. . . I rounded a corner and there she was a foot or so way from my work table. . . I did the brave thing and let out a brief scream like girl . . . . then we just looked at each other for a minute or two before she turned and walked down the dirt road leading out. . . . I smiled when I realized I how few people get to experience things like a "surprise visits from a black cow", the sun set, wild flowers and hearing the birds talk to each other while getting a physical work { like going to the gym for hours work out} and I get paid for it . . .that makes me smile. . .I love being out doors. . . guess I never out grew being a nature loving wild child but hey what can I say :confused: I am still cute :D

How wow now black cow! You gotta close the pasture gate after driving the pick-em-up truck through it! :D Was she a chewing her corn cud? Heck, one of my aunts fell asleep in the barn in a cow pattie when she was little. Had beautiful hair after that. Those East Texas cows....... Thanks for the story meadd, it made me smile!

My smile-might be kinda big-I learned how to do CPR on adults, infants, and children, use an AED device and brushed up on my basic first aid at the Red Cross today. Those chest compressions are something else-I have real admiration for people who have done them for 45 minutes or more waiting for an ambulance-they are heroes!

If feels good to know I could possibly save a life-but I hope it never happens to anyone and has to be used.

We don't have cows it probably got loose from the guy accross the street, he has several cows. The neighbor in front of us has goats, we have "stuff" that doesn't eat.

My dad waking me up at 3am to say goodbye :)! he works out of town and usually doesn’t come up on weekdays but he had yesterday off because of rain and this morning before he left he said goodbye...

I pulled a beautiful rose out of the ground yesterday because it didn't look like it would live. Just to see if it would work, I plopped it in a pot of water. It perked up! All I need to do is amend the soil and put in some moisture retaining crystals and I'll have this thing blooming next month!

Yeah that picture made me smile too. I know I'm repeating myself, but she's the "gorgeoustest" little girl in the whole world! :-)

It makes me smile to think that one day, I could have a daughter of my own...

the baby pictures always make me smile also but when i was leaving to go to my coffee shop this morning and I kissed my sleeping wife on the cheek good by, the smile she gave me was well just warm, honest and true. It made me know that she loves me and that my friends will always make me smile.

very very very early this morning my oldest snuggled with me, he had a tummy ache and wanted a tummy rub...holding each other was very sweet

I had a friend bring me some flowers for my birthay today but she also knew I have had a very rough week. Also my dear friend Chel was the first to wish me a HB. That was so cool

The rain...i don't know why but every time i'm out in the rain...even if its cold and i have a long ways to walk i feel happy and have to smile :o but the only downside to today was i was going to school so i was wet almost all day :faint:

at work today I took my consumers on a picnic in the park. one of them, she, never really talks but comunicates thru gestures and touches. I helped her sit on the blanket and she was listening to some oldies and just swaying to the music with one of the biggest smiles on her face that really said she was enjoying just being there and enjoying the day. now that really made me smile.

My son went with his father today to a boyscout event at a nascar racetrack. If anyone here is familiar with boyscouts --- they raced their pinewood derby cars against cars that were made by some nascar drivers (to boyscout specifications). Anyhow, my 10 year old son won first place and got to take a ride around the track with the pace car. He was so thrilled - made my day to see him so happy and excited.

My daughter Samanatha called to day,
