Hi all. I am having problems with procrastination in getting started in homework...

I have a small paper due and an article we had to read on education and I have one more question to answer for that and I am having a problem understanding the 4 sources of she gave us in Western Civilization.

I have one and a half pages are source 1 and 2 but havent really focused on 3 and 4. I want to hand this in on Monday have an A paper, she has been working with me for the past 2 weeks. I am having a hard time comprehending the old world language.

Any suggestion are welcome.... Anyone want to do this paper? hehehe

How they use to talk in the roman days. Here is the first 2 sentences of the source 1.

" Nations innumberable and most savage have invaded Gaul. The whole region between the Alps and the Pyrenees, the ocean and the Rhine, has been devasteated by the Quadi, the Vandals....... Oh wretched Empire! Maycence, formally a noble city, has been destroyed after along siege. "

Oh wretched Empire! Maycence, formally a noble city, has been destroyed after along siege. ""Lots of bad guys attacked gaul. The whole area from the mountains to the ocean to the river is messed up. Our once awesome city is now a wreck cause they wouldn't stop beating on it" :)

Actually I see what you mean there...it is hard enough to read things in the common language we use everyday. Oh, and you have til Monday? That's tons of time! I wouldn't be working on it til this time Sunday night if it was me ;)

Seriously though, not sure how long your paper has to be so you might need longer bits but I am trying something out this week to get me on my schoolwork. Right now I am working on school one hour a day (I work full time too) with a 10 minute break in the middle.

The more I get into the habit of setting aside the time the easier it is to work a bit longer each time. Once I sit down and start working I get focused on it and it's not so bad. It's the actual opening the book that is hard for me. If I know that I only "have" to work for an hour, I can force myself to start easier, and by the time the hour is up I don't mind continuing the work most days.

As for the comprehension you can try reading out loud or even re-writing the really tough sentences in plain language. That's how I had to study shakespeare in high-school, and it is actually pretty interesting stories if you know what the heck they are saying!

Thanks amythest, that makes sense. Yeah Gaul in now France. From what I have read, and we are only suppose to interperet the sources and write a 2-3 page paper.

I think it is the enviroment. It is hard to study at home. I dont even have a table to study on. I have a desk, and my computer is on it, but it hard to sit in this wooden chair and they heigth isnt right.

I really want to get this done.... my teacher and I have met and walked out of class talking about it. She is really nice. This paper was due 2 weeks ago, but she was giving me extra time. So this is it.... I know we have another one coming up soon. So it has to be done.

The only way I ever seem to get any homework done (not at the last minute anyway) is to go somewhere quiet and boring (visually) like a library or something and do it immediatly after school. I have my computer on my desk as well, and it seems like when I sit here to do homework I usually end up giving other people advice on how to do thiers instead. lol Yes, that means I SHOULD be doing my homework right now. I really can't do homework at home at all, so I have to do it on campus or it dosent get done. Its worth a try anyway. In addition, if you are already on campus and need help, there are usually resources nearby to help you. Good luck!

Thanks Tracy for respondeing. I know it hard to even remember. It is hard for me to learn this because I never had this type of class in high school. I was in LD. Thanks for letting me know you were thinking of me.
