my MIL needs to go and clean her Aunt's house since she's been sick and is now in the hospital. She mentioned it, and then mentioned it again, and then said she was hurting so today, and then mentioned it again...

Gravy I don't want to clean my own house why would I want to clean any one else's? Didn't your MIL volunteered to clean it? You didn't volunteer. I wouldn't feel guilty for failing to do the work some one else volunteered for. If I volunteered to go into the peace corps should others feel guilt for not going for me? Same principle. . . hey I paid good money on counseling to learn this stuff.

Sanity is maintained best in close company with personal boundaries. . . .it is a good mental health practice to have personal boundaries. . . .I struggle with trying to be all things to all people until I was told if I allow myself to be all things to all people then I will have nothing left to be for myself. . .some thing like that. It sounded better when they said it.
