Have not a favorite color-why? I love to use all sorts of colors to create my art. It is the interplay of color that I love and each color has so many shades, tints, and variations!

A woman who defied the Taliban and educated girls during that horrific time in Afganistan. The women fighting for equal rights in Iran. The women working to stop the custom of FGM, an abusive custom suffered by young girls and women in many countries.

I got Judge's Choice for a quilt-ariel view original design-no 2 pieces the same! I was just sorting out my fabrics and found all my textile designs.

I do Fiber Arts including, weaving, shibori, hand-dyeing in all types of techniques, indigo dyeing, book arts, embroidery, clothing-modern and historic. I have a nude done on muslin that needs to be finished. I mix methods. For instance, I use free-form crochet and embroidery on hand-dyed fabric-sometimes with a shibori patterned discharge dyed backgroud. I plan on experimenting with acrylic washes and pastels over two shibori pieces. I studied for a year with M Joan Lintault, an internationally known fiber artist-professor. She retired and I did not get a chance to finish my MFA in fibers.

I am working on finishing assembling a contemporary handwoven strip rug. I dyed all the fabrics and the warp and wove 15" strips with random changes in the fabric color that give it a horizontal stripe on each strip. The strips themselves create 5 long stripes. The finished piece will be 75" x 120". It is going in my living room! I am sewing the strips to painter's canvas for extra durability and it is easier to do this way too! It is primarily blues and greens with lots of other less dominant colors.

Pictures will be coming-the process and the finished product!

While substitute teaching-High school, I don't like teaching younger kids nearly as much. Perhaps because high school was wonderful for me after too many horrible years in grade school. I went into teaching to work with all kids but especially to reach out to those kids who fall through the cracks, who don't fit in, who are at risk, who struggle. Why? Because I was one of them once-and I know the impact a caring teacher has on students-it truly is remembered for a lifetime. I had quite a few of those teachers, mostly in high school and my 3rd grade teacher.

I am certified to teach Family and Consumer Science and Art. I am applying for a position that is primarily foods and clothing/textiles, my two favorite areas because they allow me and the students to be creative-basically like art! If I can't get an art position, then this one would be great! Just have to find where I put my transcripts when moving back home-then I can send in the application!

My books and creative supplies and tools. I could-have and still do-live without fancy furniture or things like that-but no sewing machine, loom, technology, books, fabrics, dyes, etc-life would be boring-nice furniture but nothing to do....

I would love to have lived in the shoes of so many people-but probably the more common people and get to know their everyday lives. I would just like to travel through time and be a part of daily life in a lot of different time periods-and watch the weavers, spinners, dyers, tailors, seamstresses, embroiderers, lacemakers, calligraphers, book makers, painters, sculptors, glass blowers, etc at work all over the globe-but especially the dying and soon to lost, indigenous textile arts of so many people groups!
