You have to be hyperfocused - to do this you have to have distractions to utilize your ADD. It is not a disorder.

Well, they were quite scattered. I perceived their discussion as lots of noise with no meaning (in French, we say "cacaphonie"... I couldn't find the English translation for that word). Anyway, I simply was too bored, hence not motivated enough, to really focus hard and long enough to understand what they were saying.

Usually, people with ADHD do not speak in an ADHD friendly way... so I just can't follow an ADHD discussion. I always need my Clarica agent next to me, for those who remember the ads... lol

Still, I think I got the general idea (I suppose my antennas helped me, along with some deducting abilities... which is how I've learnt mostly everything in my life, with really good grades, almost unconsciously without ever really being able to study). But their suggestion just cannot work for me. For instance, as I was listening to that clip, I could hear the distant chirp of a Northern Cardinal in my backyard; my cat wag his tail in front of the patio door, sort of chasing the Cardinal (in his dreams anyway); my mother talking on the phone in the basement; cars on the street; even the sound of my heartbeat in my ear... As suggested, I tried to let that all in, as stimuli to help me overfocus on what I had to do: listen to their discussion... Nope, didn't work.... Back to the iPod trick... That works better !

BTW, I don't particularly enjoy YouTube videos that last more then 10 seconds... I'm usually gone at that point. :faint:

My question: Who are these people?

It doesn't make much sence to me...

Anyone?

I don't know who they are- but they are trying to show a demonstration of what you CAN do with ADD. I understand it many ADD people may not. It doesn't matter who they are but they are trying to explain that because ADD people gain energy or thrive in some way from distractions with all of them being used to hyperfocus on one thing, it allows you to concentrate.

Right, I got that, but the syestem doesn't seem to mkake sence all that well to me.

For me, I have isshues sorting out diffrent kinds of audio distractions
that I have,(Proabley a good idea to remember that there are key diffrences in types of ADD, some people seem to be more sidtraved by sight, outhers smell, and outhers by audio, like myself) they often come at me as a glumped blog of sounds, and when I narrow them down to a few sourses, they still annoy me just as much. sometimes worse.

I can see thier point tough. but its more of a "envoirment" for adders, and thier distractions.

They are the people who run the site instantaddsuccess.com which is a membership site that costs $19.95 per month. I know that Stephanie is a Coach (not an ADD Coach though) and Tellman is an internet marketing person who also claims he's an ADD expert. Putting videos on Youtube like this is and internet marketing strategy.

Other than that, I had no difficulty following the discussion. I give it a 1 for effort. :D

My understanding about ADHD is that we seek stimulation to wake up our brains. The speakers are correct in that I prefer to multi-task and I do it well. To say that we can use all distractions is misleading. Some distractions drive me crazy and there is no way I can use them.

This is a youtube infomercial-did you all catch the beginning when they stated they are doing what they love and making money doing it? That distracted me from really taking them seriously. If this is an effort to advertise a service-I want to know up front. I don't like subtle deception.

MY not so humble opinion tonight. They just irritated me like sand in my swimming suit.

I understand we should be trying to embrace what makes all of us unique and learn to use it to our advantage, and by all means I support that notion - as long as it works.

Well...I don't know, it just seemed like they took 3 minutes to say 30 seconds worth of information, that was my main qualm with the little clip. Another thing was they failed to mention their methods won't be (at least from how I perceive it) effective unless the environment already requires multi-tasking. I do not see how one could possibly "use distractions to their advantage" when there is only ONE thing to be focused on. Anything that draws them away from their primary point of focus is going to be hindering their progress, and no amount of "distraction utilization" could possibly be beneficial to their ultimate goal...

That's just my take on it.

Those people seemed kind of like they were trying too hard to act natural and I got a little bored. I can see the concept they're trying to sell, but I don't think it works for everyone.

ADD man, on the other hand, was quite amusing!

Corny, but I loved the line, "I need to change my bed sheets."
