I've been unable to "get the motor running" if you know what I mean...

Is that what they mean by "sexual side effects"?

I've been on Zoloft for about a week not at 50mg soon to go to 100mg.

No biggie. I mean, while the wife's pregnant, she's not been really in the mood.

I can't really help here Digger.....but a family member of mine takes Zoloft 75mg. Unfortunately for her, the only major sideffect seems to be some weight gain. And I also know that she has absolutely no sexual interest at this time.... but I think that is more of a personal choice for her, and it would be her choice whether she were on the medication or not. So it's hard to say...

My personal experience with Zoloft is not the "getting the motor running" part, but not being able to... uhm.. finish up the way most prefer to. I think it has some properties that people that have pre-mature ejaculation would appreciate.

When I was prescribed it a long time ago, my doc gave me samples of viagra (it had just come out around that time) just in case I had problems, but that wasn't a problem.

yeah, I'm having "that" problem.

Maybe I should take zinc supplements?

cant say I noticed any such but then there werent many opportunities at the time :)however what I did notice were what I can only describe as rage attacks to the point of my attacking a couple of people without much provocation at all. THis is not normal behaviour for me and continued for about eighteen months after I ceased taking the things. Sample of one i know but it was not nice to be almost waking from a rage wondering who the person that did that was.

I'm a woman and had the same experience - but honestly, although it took a long time and more work to "get there", "arriving" was spectacular! Don't know if that works the same for men. Consider adding extra stimulus (I hear that vibrators work for men too).

I'm a woman in my mid-thirties and have been taking 100mg zoloft for about 8 years (and been married for 13). Yes, it does affect your ability to "finish". I've found that if I know my husband and I are going to "get busy", I can wait to take my zoloft until late in the afternoon/evening and take advantage of the kids naptime to have a little afternoon delight. ha ha I don't notice a difference in my medication level AND I'm very happy I planned ahead.

Unfortunately you can't always plan for these times. Even if you can't acheive the big "O", it is still pleasurable if you are able to let go of the need for total release. Of course, for men it might be a different thing all together.

Good luck to you - although this side effect is a bummer, being happy and mentally healthy is much more important. Before Zoloft I was so down/angry that I didn't want to have sex anyway. . . . .happy sex without the big "O" is better than no sex at all for me. :)

Agreed. I've had the same issue as David. I'm taking 200mg a day. Try taking a "holiday". I sometimes don't take it a few days before a date night. Seems to help some.

I had mixed reactions with the zoloft...if I was in the first hour or two where it made me kinda foggy headed then no...it's not gonna work...I don't care how hard he tried, but after it made me all "psychotically chipper" ...I was more or less attacking him at that point lol
