Hi I'm 22 years old and just had a very frightening situation about an hour ago that I would like to gain some insight on. I've been on Adderall IR for about a week now. I was perscribed 40mg taken as I see fit. I was on 20mg of Ritalin 2x a day before that for a couple of weeks but we switched to the bad come down I was experiencing. I was perscribed 40mg of Adderall with the discretion of the psychiatrist to experiment with the dosage. I started taking 15x twice a day but that was too much so I've been taking 10mg 3x a day for the past few days. Today I took 10mg at 8am, 1pm, and 6pm. I'm also on 50mg of Zoloft for depression and social anxiety disorder .

Anways, I was at home doing homework at around 7pm and I started feeling some chest discomfort. This has happened a few times before but I didn't think too much of it. I had an EKG test scheduled appointment so I figured I would take 20mg of pronolalol that I've had some time ago just in case and wait to see what the doctor says tomorrow. I started to get a wierd sensation in my left arm so I quickly researched heart attack symptoms and everything just went downhill from there. I started to feel really light headed, paniced, and ran outside to call 911. Plus I smoke cigarettes so I thought maybe this could have put my body over the top.

I had my heart monitored, pulse read, blood pressure taken which was 130 over 60(is that normal)? After all this happened I was feeling a lot better. According to the Paramedics it was a panic attack. This is my first panic attack ever so I didn't know what was going on exactly, but part of me still thinks it could be heart related and if I didn't take the propanolol things could have gotten much worse. I started to feel better right before the ambulance came but I still was scared as hell. Though whole experience seemed dreamlike. So my question is how likely was it that the propanolol helped right in time and prevented a full blown heart attack and as a result the Paramedics just thought it was a panic? Or is there no mistaking between the two? Thanks for all help in advance.

why do you have Propranolol? I never heard of that as an "as needed" sort of med; why do you have it hanging around "in case"? I'm very puzzled by your post.
