Hey everyone,

Thanks for looking at this thread, I just have some questions about Adderall or other stimulants increasing tics. I haven't been taking Adderall for very long and am actually still on my first bottle of Adderall XR 30mg. I had been taking the Instant Release form before I started with the XR.

Anyway, it seems that Adderall has caused an increase of amount and frequency of tics. I experience tics such as: blinking, sniffing, squinting sort of, facial expression tics, tensing up certain parts, tensing up whole body at once as if flexing all muscles.....etc. One person, I know, has even commented and asked me about them..so I guess they are somewhat noticeable. They're also really annoying. Some other things that I do that I'm not sure are actually tics are tapping my feet and/or fingers, constantly bouncing my leg(s) and feet.

I was wondering if Adderall or other stimulants increase tics? Does anyone have experience or knowledge about tics? Is it the stimulants' actions on the Dopamine neurotransmitter what causes or contributes to tics because I know that Dopamine is correlated with movement?

Any information regarding tics and/or stimulants would be great. Also, do you have any advice as to which stimulants effect this and which ones don't? Any medication suggestions? (*for instance, switching from Aderall to Dexedrine.)

Thanks in advance!!

eric

Hey emo, I merged your duplicate threads, and duplicate post into one.

Here's a report that touches on ADD stimulants and tics:

I have been taking Adderall for a few years now and I do notice a lot of tics happening with myself. I notice my head will move randomly. My body has random twitches like my leg will move by itself. It's normal and I just started a thread regarding this if you look a few threads down. It's quite normal for Adderall to bring on tics.
