Everyday I struggle with this whole what to eat/what not to eat in order to get the best effects from my adderall. Im on adderall 30mgxr. I know they say it works best if taken on an empty stomach or atleast 1 hour after you have eaten. I take my mine first thing in the am on an empty stomach. Once I feel it working I began to fear that eating anything will "kill" its effect. I also wonder if since im on the xr which release's its second dose about 3-4 hours later does that mean that eating something around the 4 hour mark will mess up that release? I hope im making sense? Anyways, my point is that I end up eating nothing all day trying to keep the adderall in my system as long as possible and then end up binging like crazy late at night right before bed. Any ideas??

Wait 2 hrs before eating if you want that effect. The Adderall relases 4 hrs later, but it is releasing from the small intestine or so... think of the digestive tract... 2 hrs head start means food doesn't mix with it.

Any ideas??I suggest trying a meal replacement shake. I used to use them to overcome the anorectic side effect of some of these drugs, and I found the shakes to be a great way of being able to put/keep enough "fuel in my tank" whenever normal meals were not an option.

For the most part, you can make your own shakes from scratch with what ever ingredients you prefer, or you can get Ensure, or perhaps a generic version of Ensure, etc. Most grocery stores, and drug stores offer their own brand of meal replacement shakes that I always thought of as generic Ensures. They all tasted great to me too.

If you do a Google search for "Ensure," you will be able to find the manufacturer's website. If you go to the Ensure website you can find a free sample coupon that you can print out and redeem locally for a free sample bottle of any flavor of Ensure.

Hope this helps. It's certainlly food for thought.

My main problem is not finding something to eat but rather finding anything to eat. More often than not I'm not hungry. I take my Adderall at around 7:30AM or 8:00AM and around 3:00-5:00PM I get hungry. Then I eat like a mad man and eat until I'm over-filled.

I find eating a whole bunch of little tiny meals during the day. oh, dont take the adderall with anything that has lots of vitamine C.

What kind of small meals do you normally cook up? I bought an apple and an orange this morning to try and get started with eating small meals throughout the day so I don't end up eating one huge meal at the end of the day but so far I spit out the apple. It just doesn't want to go down.

I figured out something weird yet cool. I decided to purchase an apple and an orange for breakfast and lunch snacks today. I started eating the apple without peeling the skin. First things first, I spit out my first bite. Then, I had a bottle of water near by. I decided that I'd chew up the apple as much as I possibly could and then use the water to chug it down like I'm swallowing a pill. Sure enough this worked. For some reason or another because I'm not that hungry I kind of have to force myself to eat. I plan on using this method tomorrow and the days to come while eating fruits that can easily be crushed down so that I can easily swallow it without any issues.

Adderall (http://www.drugs.com/cons/adderall.html)

Amphetamines may be taken with or without food or on a full or empty stomach. However, if your doctor tells you to take the medicine a certain way, take it exactly as directed.***End Quote

I am unsure who they are however I do not find food itself to make much differences in the effects of my Adderall. Although eating itself may not effects Adderall absorbutoin what you eat may decrease the absorbution.

You should not take Addeall with citric fruits or juices. Increasing your stomach acid will decrease the absorbution of this medication. This is wht I have been told by my doctor, although it has been a while I have not heard any medical stuff controdicting this as of yet.

Please do NOT take my word over that of your doctor, that would be silly.

Try figuring this out with dexedrine IR where you have to redose every 3 1/2 hours.
