Ok I reallt do not know where to start but I really need some advice here, please.

My daughter is 9 years old and was diagnosed with ADHD combined type back in 2003. This year her doctor claims she has bi-polor 2, which i disagree with.I am going to be getting other opinions on that.
I am going to college full time and started a class tonight called "the exceptional child" and the teacher is VERY much educated in areas of exceptional children. He is a special ed teacher,a psych and has a few more degrees. This class is VERY interesting to me. We were in a class discusion and I started talking about my little girl and he said that I really needed to get a second opinion and his exact words were"sooner than later". He stated that it sounds to him like she has aspbergers.
Is anyone familiar with this either first hand with your own children or know of anyone?
I will explain some of the things that happen with sis on a daily basis.
1- She will get even the slightest cut and dwells on it,she will talk about that same cut for days and even just a scratch she claims hurts so badly.
2- She will take lets say a phone book or even a newspaper and circle words through out that whole books,1000's of times until its so full you can see a thing and when she circles the words she will re-write them over to the side over and over. She will even take plain paper and lets say on the top, write the letter A, and think of all the words or names that start with a and write lists.WE go through sooooooooooooooooooooo much paper. She will even do this in coloring books with the words under the pictures and this has been goin on since i can remember.
3- people talking loudly or the sound of musical instruments sometimes annoy her badlyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
4-She talks REALLY loud.
5-I know its normal too be protective over your loved ones but she goes nuts even if im wrestling with my son(her brother),she gets bent right out of shape.
6-I know a lot of kids even adults hate the dentist but i had too talk her to a specialists to have dental work done, even cleanings they have to sedate her as the noise of the drills or anything she panics and cries and carries on.
7-She gets really annoyed easily by certain sounds and voices.
8-Hard too keep friends
9-She is always playing with something in her hands or playing with her hands
10-She was very delayed as a baby, she did not walk until she was 23 months old,she was way behind in everything such as even sitting up,she was 10 months old.She went to speach and physical theraphy too help her from age 2-4.

These are just some things and maybe its not aspbergers,i really dont know.I wish i did and i will be on the phone tomorrow making calls as my daughter is going to get the help that she needs.she is going to be 10 years old in august and this has gone on way too long now.I want my little girl to beable to function with peers and such and at least with whatever it is going on,we can make the next step too help her with it.

Please any advice is soooooo much appreciated.

Hey kid, lots to dwell on, sounds overwhelming. Big, big hugs.

Ask your teacher if he can recommend a teaching hospital or other top-notch place or doctor. Not knowing and wondering about all this is not easy, knowing what is going on will help-then you will know what to do and how to help her and what she needs. What ever it is. Go online and do all the research you can too-you probably already have. If I have time tomorrow I will see if i can find some resources and will send you the links.

I wish I could make all this go away for you-I feel your pain. Hold on and pm me anytime you need to.

Thank you so very much. I have been researching as you already knew, lol. Any info you may find though would be greatly apprecaited. I was told about some specialist in Eugene and Portland that deal with just the autism so im going too see about that tomorrow as well.

I know this post is months late but just signed up on the forum, I sure think it is asbergers, I was diagnosed with it too last year (I'm 27 now) it was kind of to late for me., but luckily since I had I.E.P records from school, I was finally diagnosed and getting support now. But I suggest you checkout the other posts that I posted on the forum, has tons of info on it. Also I would checkout about setting up I.E.P type meetings with your childs school, or find a school that has that available as a record of your children progress though school. cause when your child reaches high school or after graduation it may help you get a full diagnostic of aspergers and even get the support your child deserves..
