Hi Everyone, i'm very new here.

Has anyone experienced severe joint pain while taking Adderall XR? I was prescribed 5mg daily but told to "play" with the doseage to try and see what's right for me. The most i've taken in a day is 20mg. That was the last day i took it. The joint pain is so severe that i've taken myself off the drug.

I stopped taking it Thurdsay. Its now Saturday evening and the joint pain is still with me. Also, I forgot to mention that I got a rash under the skin on my legs & arms. It was itchy but has since gone away. The joint pain began after about the 8th day. I thought maybe I was getting sick or something, like the flu. But when I did not get sick I thought it may be related to the Adderall. The pain is in my knuckles, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles and toes.

I'm currently taking Loritab left over from a previous dentist's prescription for the pain. It is really bad. I'm afraid it will never go away.....but then again I do worry a bit more than I should......

I have an appointment with the doctor consequently on Monday AM. I'm going to tell my doctor about it and see what can be done. Anyone else ever had this side affect? It almost seems i'm allergic to it.

Thank you for reading this. You are all wonderful!

Hi appleblaster, and welcome to the forums.

I've never experienced that side effect myself. It's good that you are seeing your Dr. on Monday morning. Hopefully your Dr. will have some ideas.

I hope you keep us in the loop if you find out anything.

Peace, Lars

Today the pain seems to have subsided a bit, most likely because i've taken myself off of the medication. Tomorrow I visit my doctor and perhaps there is something else I can try. Do any of you think the IR would prevent the pain I experienced?

I've never had joint pain while taking Adderall IR,if fact before I started taking it I was always sluggish and my joints and my body hurt.I feel like all my joints flow better now,it might be do to me having better energy. I have never had XR so I can't say about that.

If you had a rash, that sounds (to my completely non-medically-educated mind) like it could be an allergic reaction, rather than just a side effect. Definitely definitely check with the doc (you're already on that, so good!).
