Hi, you guys have been so helpful here so I'd like to ask another question.
When on the telephone, there are days where he is spacey...how do I deal with it? I keep wondering if it's because of me..
Spacey doesn't mean uninterested in the conversation or does it? sometimes it feels like ".................................................. ....."
is there anything I can do to make it better?

My wife says the same thing about me. Sometimes I skip my meds and I think that could make my spaciness worse. Maybe that? Is he staying on a regular med schedule?
he has been off of meds since childhood..he's in his early twenties now.

Does he see a doctor? Meds work wonders with some people, but you can't make someone take them (although we wish we could sometimes.)

Keep in mind that there can be *many* other causes for momentary lapses, or "seeming out of it".
(e.g. head injuries [DYK 80% of concussions don't have a TKO !?]; temporary absence seizures; dissociative disorders; blood sugar problems (could be new onset); sleep disorders, etc etc.)
Has the person had any ADHD or Neuro-Psychological Testing by a Psychologist?
(I'm a big believer in good Assessment. Not just MDs asking people a few questions. Too much gets missed!)

I am at a comfortable place in my marriage that when my husband "spaces out" whether it be on the phone or otherwise I just say "yo, ADD boy, it's not a chicken!" and I bring him back to the conversation or task at hand. And he IS on meds.
