Since starting on Adderall, chronic lower back pain has been completely gone.

Any similar experiences or theories?

Amphetamines main action is causing a release of dopamine the neurochemical associated with all major pain killers (opiates). Its not suprising at all that an amphetamine would help chronic pain and infact it is prescribed for pain in some very specific situations.

Thats strange because for me at the end of the day my back hurts worse?? Its like my muscles have been wound up tight all day and get really sore in the evening?

It's odd than that I have not read may other claims that it helped with a chronic-pain issue, in fact I mostly read the opposite as the case of the above poster. It certainly is a nice bonus, and I'd imagine is much better than using a more potent and addictive opiate.

I have been taking Adderall for nearly 2 years and have experienced nearly total relief from all joint pain while the drug is active in my system. Anytime I've taken a break from Adderall, here comes the back pain, knee pain, elbow pain again (all from sports-related injuries.)

The main problem I had with this phenomenon earlier on was I would exercise too vigorously due to the lack of joint pain and would aggravate the joints mentioned, though I wouldn't feel it until the following day or two.

Now I've learned my lesson, it just MASKS the pain, and if yours is from prior injury or arthritis be careful not to try to imitate some of the "World's Strongest Man" stunts such as dead-lifting a Volkswagon just because you feel no pain right now!

Other than that, for me anyway, Adderall has a better analgesic effect than Advil. I would say it's on par with the pain relieving effects of Hydrocodone (Vicodin.) ;)

http://www.idmu.co.uk/amphetpain.html check that out...

Also, stimulants are usually given to people on opiates to counter the side effects... works great.

Actually stimulants can also increase the pain thresh hold which is more than likely the effect you are experiencing.
