Hi everyone. I have been on Adderall since 1999. Currently I am taking IR 80 mg a day. My question is : how much are you taking and how do you take it? I usually take 60 mg in the morning and 20 in the afternoon.:eyebrow:

After all this time, do you still notice its effects (say, if you dont take it for a bit, and then go back on)
Or is your tolerance so high, its barely beneficial anymore?
Just curious.
I, myself have been on Adderall for 1 year. I have never taken more than 20mg/day. Usually I take it 3-4 times per week. Not everyday. Because I really do not want to have to increase my dose. Eventually though, I am probably going to have to.

Hey JennyJay how on earth are you prescribed 80 mg per day??? Ive been taking adderall for about as long and my doctor was reluctant to prescribe me 60 mg IR/day due to how much stronger it is than XR. Just curious.
And JustinL, if you take supplements, drug holidays, and breaks on weekends, you shouldnt have to increase dosage, but u might have to.

I was on 60 for a long time, and it just was not effective anymore. I don't think I can go any higher then 80mg a day though.

I have been taking Adderall 20mg regular release about four times a day {every 4-4.5 hours I am awake} for several years now{about 7 years}. I no longer "feel" the medications because my body has become used to having the chemical changes caused by the Adderall but the Adderall still works.
Before I was on medications I would have emotional reactions before I knew I had any emotions, on my medications I am able to notice my emotions even label them and make a conscious decision as to how I wish to deal with them.
I can be angry and not flame people, and if I need to do the dishes I can complete the task before wandering off. I can decide to pay attention to some thing even if I do not find it all that interesting, and I can more effectually coordinate multitasking , I can make my thoughts go linear if I need to so my medication work even though I do not feel them any more. I go by how well I am functioning and how well I am able to function by choice I do not go by feelings because if you take medication long enough the feeling will go away simply because your body adjust to the chemical changes the medication causes.
I have been on ADD medication most of the past 14 years. I started out on Ritalin but found the Adderall to have fewer unpleasant side effects for me. I do not take medication holiday well not on purpose Because I do not feel the medication I often do not feel it wear off either. I may not even notice the effects are gone unless I am some where like work . At work I will notice my functioning declines I will do a lot of wandering but no production. When I am here on the forums I will some times notice my medications are gone when I read a post about one thing and find I have responded with seven other things having little to do with the initial post Some times I go will go off on strange tangents {which I am sure every one just loves} then I will realize it was pill time an hour ago. When I am simply relaxing I may take the first dose of the day and forget to take the rest . . naturally nothing gets done but who says every day has to be a productive one any way. . .. . . :D
