Hey everyone! It's exams at my uni at the moment, and I'm wondering what study techniques you use to get your reading/problem sets/general studying done?

1:1 groups (tutor; study buddy) or small group work. (See how the "A" student works.)
Active reading skill development

ADHD often involves 'working memory' (short term memory) problems.

We have to "over learn" things. (e.g.

Math: Repeatedly doing problems and solutions in math,
Reading: active reading techiques, summarizing, asking questions, teaching others, margin notes, translating to new problem scenarios, etc. (One strategy to keep track of queries and highlights that arise while in class is the Cornell note-taking system?)
ADHDers often race thru readings and questions. Then we only get a surface understanding of the info. (e.g. rote memorization of data/knowledge)

See Level #1 (Knowledge [memorization]) of Blooms' Taxonomy of Learning:

---------

Given this, we don't elaborate in their rehearsal to get things to memory as much as other students do. (e.g. 'chunking' and other techniques)

Have you been assessed at your Uni/College?
Have you been signed up with Special Needs to get a Learning Strategist?
Learning strategists teach these Tools. (It is good to get into see them.)

Novices problem solvers are often at level #1 or #2 of Bloom's Taxonomy pyramid.

Intermediate problem solvers are at the middle levels of the Pyramid

Experts are at the top two levels. (They can transfer the "knowledge" and "solution strategies" to Unique Situations or to Solving New Questions in a "what if" scenario to predict things in novel settings.)

Scientific American had an article a while back about "expert" knowledge and learning.
